Yesterday I had quite the busy day. I had a softball practice with the new team I'm on and ended up fixing my Dad's computer until 4 am. I was a bit nervous about the softball practice. It was a new team, but almost everyone already knew each other and I was basically asked to join as a last minute addition because the roster wasn't quite full and the team captin got my name from the league director. Usually, you don't get treated that nice in a clique, but I was still crossing my fingers for more than a month waiting to join this league. They play at a complex with 300 foot fences and it will be fun trying to smash the ball over them. It's co-ed ball with low arc pitching, so it's a good balance of relaxed fun and a bit of competitiveness thrown in.
So, after I made a few wisecracks and broke the ice, everyone seemed to think I was okay and I felt a lot better. I had also jumped the gun and ordered a really nice bat to bring for everyone and I'm glad I did. It hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but I'll have it by our first game.
It will also be a good diversion for them to keep their hands off my favorite new bats, especially "Roxanne" (my RocketTech
)
They seem really laid back and just out there to have fun... unlike the team I played on last year.
I take my batting seriously, but geeez... it's just softball... no one is going to cure cancer out here, right?
Anyway, I think everyone here helps me to keep my wits sharp and I just wanted to say that having a good time in a real social setting still reminds me of TCS. -wish you were here.
