At the kitty's beck and call
Oh I've never heard of this. I do have conversations with Lily though. I prrr-oww at her and meow and she does it back to me. I have no idea what we're talking about and the family think I'm nuts

P'raps I ought to learn about animalism and then I'd know what I'm saying to her!

W/ the best cats
Trying to understand them or making them understand us? There's a difference I think. Animal behaviorists concentrate on the first choice while animal trainers the second.

At home, when I call my babies, they meow back. When I pet them or tell them they're good and wonderful, they purr and meow. When they misbehave and I tell them so, they keep quiet. Those are pretty short "conversations".

Under the cats, mostly.
I think there is a level of understanding between pet and owner that nobody will fully be able to comprehend.... but seeing as we can bridge the gap between all the different languages among our own species... I don't see why it coudln't be done cross-species as well. Food for thought eh?
