Well, its a fact, I hate petsmart.
Everytime I go there its at least a 60 dollar check. I cant get out of there for less. I went in for a new litter box because i dont like cj's new game of lets see how far we can kick out litter! There were signs everywhere telling me how everything was on sale save up to 30%! I got all excited and expected to keep it under $50 this time, but none of the cat stuff was on sale. I expected to spend at $25 on a covered box. Well they then had the Nutro man there handing out free samples of wet and dry nutro natural and nutro max cat. I also have been hearing so much about cat dancers that I got a couple, one for tiggy and one for cj. Then I got more litter for the new box, and by the litter was something I keep thinking about getting, the cat sitter dvd, well so i got it too. I go and check out and my total is $70!!
The lady at the checkout said its worse when you work there because all your check goes right back to petsmart. Its like walmart for animals!!!

The cat sitter Dvd is so cute! its got bird sounds that go constantly. The video switches between gerbils to yard birds, to mice to chipmunks, fish, butterflys, this pretty big green parrot, etc. He is sitting at the tv, trilling and gurgling to himself! Every once in a while is a cat meow that really makes him perk up! Its about an hour long and on the dvd menu there is a choice about continuous loop action which is if your gone for a long time. He tries to bat at the tv! I took some cute pics and will post them soon!

So now we are working on the new litter box (booda dome) and trying to get him to use it instead of the pan one. I think we are making pretty good progress. He goes in there and digs around, but hasnt used it yet. I put some scoops of the old litter in with new so it smells like him, and even put a little peice of poo in there so he would try to bury it. Every time he goes in it I give him a piece of the max cat dry as a treat ( i think he likes it!) So we are hoping he will be switched litter boxes before we have to move. I didnt want to do it yet but he is throwing about a third of his litter on the floor a day! Lol, so what does mommy do? reward him with toys.

I think he likes the cat dancer, he plays with it but its not crazy jumping in the air, just batting at it when it goes by.

So the moral of the story, only bring in $40 dollars when you go there, no debit card, no checks

I hate SPCA too. Everytime I went there to do some volunteer work, I ended up buying and buying and buying all kind of stuffs which I dun need.

We don't have a Petsmart here.
But I suppose it's a good thing because I'm sure I'd spend a fortune there too!! Definitely a blessing in disguise!!

Indeed~~~!
Sandy stole a big cookie from the big dog section and couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough! She was still trying to hide it when the clerk came around the corner~~

I know exactly what you mean. We don't have a Petsmart in our area (there's an online shop with a very small selection), and there's no Petco here. There is a Petco near my mom's, and when I'm visiting, I stock up on "good" food for my sister's menagerie (3 dogs and two cats), because she buys cheap stuff. My mom almost fainted one time because the bill came to $186.00, but that was reasonable considering the amount I bought. The way I see it, the better the food, the lower the vet's bills. I also get cat wipes, new products, and other stuff for Jamie I can't get here.

The main complaint I have right now is that the producer of Innova and California Natural has stopped exporting to the EU, and that some brands are unavailable for months at a time. I buy almost all of Jamie's food and litter online, because the two closest pet stores don't carry anything he can/will eat.

Us, too, everything except food of course, thankfully the petstore on the way home has the large Felidae cans for $1.18 each. Walmart had almost the exact same collar I was looking at for 1/4 the price of Petsmart, and a whole bag of kitty goodies for something like $3. Of course, he wouldn't play with those... he stole my hair scrunchies instead. We paid $15, I think, for a covered potty with a kitty door there.

It doesn't matter either way, I suppose... we innocently went into the mall petstore to "visit" today and dropped $10 on 2 toys that he'll have torn up in a week. Can't help ourselves.

My husband gets nervous everytime we go there because I always get my way when the cats "need" something.

I've been thinking of getting that cat DVD, but I'm not sure how the cats will react to it. I think Buffy will enjoy it, but Willow strikes me as the kind to be interested in it for the first day, and won't bat and eyelash the next. Eh, what can it hurt, its only $24 or so, lol (Canadian funds, of course)

If I have money in my bank account and I'm in the store, I can count on using up almost all of the money. It's pretty normal for me to go into the store to get a $14 bag of cat food and come out with a $45 hole in my pocket (that exact scenario happened last time I got cat food). But you just feel so GOOD when you walk out of the store with all those cool goodies in your bags!

Yes, they have such great stuff there. That is where my foster agency usually shows the cats, so I have spent my fair share of time at Petsmart! But it is fun to see the new adoptive parents go spend $200 on junk for their new cats! Lets you know they won't be afraid to care for them over time (I hope).

We have a petco but its pretty old, and its small and not much fun. Our petsmart is less than a year old, its huge! The only thing is about a quarter of the store is for cats, but dogs have half of it. I wish they had more for the cats.

I got cj from the shelter and paid $60 for him, they fixed him, chipped him, gave him all his shots, the normal stuff. I figured that really its not that much considering all the animals that they help in my area. I look at it as a donation to help the other kitties that come in.

our walmart has a terrible pet selection. They dont carry any good brands of food, no toys, really cheap looking scratching posts. It would be nice if they did. We do have a sams club here though........

I am so glad that I am not the only one spending so much there!! Whoever owns it is making a LOT of money... Maybe I should get some stock.....
