Little Peanut died yesterday. The nurse who was taking care of him said it was probably his heart and that's why he was born prematurely. His story is on the Pregnancy/kittens page. He was such a little fighter and even though he was only with us a short while, we will miss him.

For Peanut, as he crosses the bridge

Oh my, I am sorry. Please don't beat yourself up about this, you did all you could and more. Sometimes their lives are just meant to be brief, to touch ours for whatever reason. Be it, to open up our hearts to the plight of the strays on the street, or to make us firm advocates for spay and neuter, but each kitten that touches our lives, touches it for a reason.

I am so sorry about Peanut. I am sure the nurse knew what to do and did the best she could for him. I had a cat who birthed a litter similar to Peanut once and by three weeks old, they had all three died. She was a young cat too and I questioned byself whether she was just too young to care for them. She had several litters after that and ALL babies were healthy and happy kittens!

I am so sorry for your loss of your baby Peanut.
I too lost a kitten I had named Peanut.
Perhaps they are playing together at the Rainbow Bridge.

Dear little Peanut is happy and growing strong at the Rainbow Bridge. They are with us for such a short time it is hard, but he know he was cared for and loved. You are in my thoughts

Thank you all for your kind words. Thinking of him at the Rainbow Bridge healthy and strong, playing with his sibling, My Butterscotch and Mittens, Nan's Peanut, and all of the other wonderful cats there made me feel much better. It is amazing how close we get to these kittens in such a short time. The saying is true, I've never met a cat that I didn't like, but there are plenty of people....LOL...
It was just hard because I had never been near a mother cat that didn't know what to do or kittens that were sick. I just always think of everything working out and was caught totally by surprise. And Hissy you hit it right on the nose... This just doubles my efforts working with our feral colony. We are so close to having them all fixed. And of course, Minky (the mama) now has an apointment to be spayed!
