Please Pray for Whitey

This is so hard to write and I hardly know how. There is a colony of cats that live in the garden of the apartment complex where I live. One of them was born there, and was adopted by one of the residents, but he still spends most of his time in the garden.

Every night this resident, Jose, feeds all the cats and his cat -- Whitey -- always comes and eats then. Whitey has not shown up for a week for his meals. I am so scared for him.

There is a man in the complex who shoots cats with a slingshot. This sounds ridiculous, but he has actually killed two cats that I know of for sure this way. He was investigated by the Humane Society and fined less than a year ago, but I'm afraid he may have shot Whitey.

Please pray that Whitey is ok and that he comes back to us.

YEAH!!

I know what you mean. I'm such a weakling I can't even confront him and I wish I could. At least to see if he would give us any information. Not knowing what's happened to Whitey, waiting everyday that he'll show up for dinner and being disappointed is awful.

Whitey still has not shown up for dinner and Jose and I are beginning to give up hope. We discussed the evil slingshot shooter and Jose is convinced now that he shot Whitey and threw his body away.

I am so sad about this. We have lost so many cats and kittens to this horrible man. His name is Mr. Flores.

Tomorrow I'm going to talk to the woman who reported him before and try to get the number and person she talked to, and to find our if he ever paid his fine. Maybe we can get this investigated.

This is day nine. Nothing new. Tears are rolling down my face. I want to be angry but I'm swallowed up by saddness. Whitey (I don't know whether to type is or was) our star. Our favorite garden cat. He was? is? our border patrol -- keeping out the Toms. He was? is? our best cat, our star.

Day Eleven -

No Whitey.

Jose and I have given up ever seeing Whitey again or even knowing for sure what happened to him.

Oh, Katie, please don't give up hope. This must be just agonizing for you. I'm praying for your sweet boy. Please come home, Whitey!

Thank you. I appreciate your sweet and encouraging words. Since Jose gave up it's been very hard for me. Whitey has been Jose's cat since he was just a little kitten. His mother lived in the garden. My little Go Go has the same mother as Whitey. We are both in such agony.

Oh Jan, Now I'll never be able to listen to him the same way again. I always did wonder about his lullaby saying and down will come baby, cradle and all....

Our boy Whitey is still missing. I'm so scared some other cat will come up missing. It's hard to believe the human heart can get so broken.

Thank you Stephanie. I got the number to report Mr. Flores, but I really don't have much to report except that Whitey has disappeared.

This is the thirteenth day. Tomorrow is two weeks.

We are praying for Whitey, praying ever so hard. We are here far away and we will continue to pray.
