do your kittens suck?

i got a kitten for my daughter and it was 5 weeks old, it sucks on everything, in fact it's sitting on my lap sucking on my pants right now, we have a pillow that's long fake fur, and she acts like she thinks it's her mommie, she kneeds at it and sucks on it, is it because she was weaned too early it's so cute but my pants have little wet spots

yes, this is somethig socks has always done, hes just over 12 months now and is still doing it, on everything, gotta tell you though, once they get bigger, and they kneed their claws into you, it hurts alot more

5 weeks is really young to be away from its mummy. mine was still feeding from her at 5weeks.

maybe you could get it a bottle and feed it a little kitten milk to comfort it?

When I first got Samwise he was a sucker. But once he got comfortable and knew for sure that he had a forever home he stopped. Now he just licks and purrs really loud. I kind of miss it though.

No, my kittens don't suck. They're awesome. You shouldn't say your kittens suck, I'm sure they don't appreciate that

I know, that really wasn't THAT funny but for some reason the goofy mood I'm in right now made me think it was hilarious.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a cat suckle. Must be weird with them not really having lips and all...

Trust me they do

Meish is about 3 years old and she suckles my shirt and kneads me when I cuddle her. Its cute but it makes me wonder what happened in kittenhood. (she was adopted from a shelter)

What a funny question!
It seems like ALL of the kittens in my life have done that!
My first baby Dupah would nibble constantly on my terrycloth bathrobe-so much that it began to look wore out in places. I named it "the Blue Robe of Tranquility"
And then Bunny would nibble on my Mom's electric throw blanket.
Tucker nibbled on himself-usually on his belly, or arm. That's probably why his belly fur is so luxurious..all of that spit made it grow!
Mini would nibble on my forearm, or the inside crook of my elbow. We had to nurse her, that's how she would tell me she was hungry, but like all of them, it took them a long time to grow out of it.

Picasso has a favorite wobby that used to be mine as a kid, he slobbers all over it. He was bottle fed as a kitten so he used to suck on everything from my ear lobes to my face. Now its just his wobby, and it has to be on me! When I first got Tigger I caught him with a fleece blanket in his mouth making muffins and walking around in a circle with it in his mouth,It was soooo cute but I've never seen him do it since.He still makes muffins like mad though...On everything!

We have a kitten who tries and finds things to suck now and a 3 year old female who will press her face into you and knead like she is sucking, but when I was growing up we had a Siamese female who sucked on our furry couch...a lot. lol

Peachy is 4 and still sucks and kneads on my head/hair. He has done this since the day I brought him home. It gets on my nerves sometimes. Like when I am trying to sleep and I hear suck suck suck in my ear or his paws on my head going a hundred miles an hour. But I also think it is so cute. I think that is one reason we have such a tight bond.

One of my cats, Misty, is 14 and still has that habit. She'll even suck on the fur on her paws. It's the cutest when she gets distracted and looks up while she's still sucking so it looks like she's blowing a raspberry. I'll have to find a picture of it and post.

My little 8 week old kitten, Merlin loooveeessss to suck on things. His new favorite is my earlobe lol. It's cute and all but sometimes the boyfriend gets jealous

Ellie still sucks at 11 months. But this little one is looking for comfort as well as food at that very young age. Can you make him up something to suck on - a stuffed toy or towel that smells of you or with catnip might work, and certainly give him some of his food in a bottle. Good luck with him.

My 3 months old kitten, Timine, just loves to suck on his own tail. It's so funny because he's got quite a big hairy one and when he does that, he goes walking around with this skinny wet end of tail.
Luna, not quite 2 months old sucks on anyone's neck....I look like I've been bitten by multiple tiny vampires, although it doesn't hurt when she does it...
