I saw that Dr. Phil too and just wanted to cry along with the children and parents of the children who were being bullied.It brought back a LOT of memories for me.
In middle school, I had to ride the bus with two VERY nasty boys. They always picked on me about everything and I faced the obligatory being chased home from the bus stop. One night, we get a call from a stranger saying that there was some graffiti spray-painted inside the home he was renovating. Apparently, the 2 boys broke in and spray-painted "Amy O***** is a (word that rhymes with 'boar') and a (word that rhymes with 'witch')" and included my home phone number. I was in 7th grade!!! I was SO upset and my parents were livid. They went to one of the boys' grandfather and it stopped after that. I had even blocked that whole part out of my mind(some people do that with traumatic situations) until my mom accidentally brought it up last year. I feel so bad for kids being picked on now and I can relate to all of you other "pickee" TCS-ers
Amy, that is so sad, honey!!! Kids can be so very cruel. I'm sorry that had to happen to someone as sweet as you, you didn't deserve it. I don't know why kids do what they do. I look back at myself and I don't know why I picked on my cousin. He laughs about it now but I still feel bad. I felt even worse when I read your story. I never did anything that bad to him but I feel horrible that I was in the same category as those goons who picked on you. I think the biggest lesson that former pickers can learn from stories like these is what to teach your children: compassion, understanding, open-mindedness, and love. How we treat others has a lot to do with how our parents treated us and taught us to treat others.
