I was laying in bed last night reading a magazine and Sophie(My mother cat) was out having a break from her kittens when I heard a little cry closer then usual I looked down on the floor and there was a little tabby kitten sitting there, I quickly scooped her up and put her back in the box.

Wait? Didn't I have five kittens? As I look in the box I can only count four. Now I'm frantic. Searching everywhere. It took me about fifteen minutes before I finally tracked the little Tortoishell girl down she was in the very bottom off a plastic bag filled with books in my cupboard.

Now, Sophie is having break time with the door closed on her cage.

With that over I finally got into bed and started to drift off when I heard a ROARING come from the cage. I look over and Sophie is on her hind legs with the SAME kitten in her mouth and just shaking it. I went over and banged the cage and she dropped it.

I don't understand, is the fattest and most healthest kitten?

Anyway I just needed to vent and everytime I heard even the slightest meow I was over at that cage seeing what was happening.

Awww, Sam. I'm sorry you had to see that. That must have been awful. Is she ok with the kitten now? I hope things calm down a bit so that you can get a good night's sleep tonight.

Oh gosh! Nothing like kittens and their mother to worry you at night.
Sorry you had such a rough time Sam.

Kelly-

I have her in the cat room at the moment, I think she needs a bit of time away from them. When I woke up about 15 minutes ago, she seemed OK with the kittens(there is 5) and she was feeding them. It's funny because this is the same way she was with her first litter, infact we had to take her away from her kittens when they were 2 weeks old because she was so agressive towards them, but then her second litter she was perfect.

Thanks Kelly.

Jenny-

Yea that's right. I just hope we don't have a repeat. Thanks

ahhhh, I'm sorry Sam...hope things are better tonight...

I had a sleepless night too...Zack was sick on the couch and I was worried Mittens would keep him up so I was constantly checking on him seeing if they were all ok...gosh, sometimes being a mom is hard work!

Don't you wish you could just ask her why she was moving it?

Oh to be able to communicate clearly with any of our cats!

i bet youre tired for school!! unless youre still on holidays.
I'm lucky in that way, none of my mother cats were ever agressive to their kids

Jan, I have a fair idea why she could have been moving it. Last night I started cleaning out my drawers and my wardrobe and stuff, I was giving my room a good clean - Sophie was probably just trying to help.

That's the theory Nana & I had anyway. I do wish Sophie could tell me straight out though.

fwan, I'm still on holidays. Infact they only started this week!

She's curled up with them at the moment. I gave her an hour break, I'm going to continue giving her small breaks throught out the day and see if that helps.
