Okay....so heres what happened. I left the office at 5 yesterday (actually on time) and headed home. I stopped and did my errands that I needed to do, and got home around 6 or so. I fed all 6 hungry lions, fed the fish, and took Bjourne out. I got him ready, and I changed and I went for my afternoon walk/jog.
My best friend calls me and asks me to go to dinner with her, and things have been kind of tense at home with my husbands grandmama being in the hospital, so I really needed a relaxing evening. I called him (he had class last night) and told him I was going out, and he would have to fend for himself for one night of dinner.
He got home just as I was headed out of the house, which was around 8. I was pretty casually dressed...flip-flops, jeans, and a pink aeropostle shirt, with a light jacket. Carla shows up...wearing almost the exact same thing, except the colors were different, and we shared a laugh....we have the same taste in clothes, and always have managed to coordinate by accident.
We drove over to a mexican restaurant thats about 30 minutes away. By the time we got there, we were really mellowed out. They werent busy, and we got a younger male waiter who started off the night teasing that we couldnt have the margaritas we ordered because we werent old enough. We laughed it off, and kept on gossiping and catching up, talking about past times...and 20 minutes goes by and we dont have our drinks, we dont have the chips and salsa, and we're like ok....here comes our drinks...my frozen margarita, was, well, not frozen
I didnt care...I just wanted the drink. We ordered and he brings out our food a little while later. He was a terrible waiter! He yelled across the foyer at us, instead of coming to the table. Now, Carla and I are good tippers. We worked food service, and we know how frustrating it is, so we are pretty easy on servers, but this was ridiculous!

So, I finished eating...I was relaxed, and she and were chatting, and here comes the waiter....sliding into the booth next me...grabs my hand, which I quickly yanked away, and starts whispering in my ear!!!!!!!! Carlas face was the perfect picture of shock, and I am sure mine mirrored it. He was close enough, he could have probably smelled the pineapple lipgloss I just put on.
He is complaining about the people in the table behind us coming in at closing everytime and then fussing about everything so that they can get their meal free. And hes almost on my lap. So, I very calmly said (because I was extremely flabergasted, not to mention a little embarrassed.) "Dude. I have a personal bubble that you just popped." So, he got up out of the booth, fussing how when he worked in boston, he always got tipped, but since he came to virginia, he never got tipped. I am thinking...let me give you a tip...my husband gets a little jealous....jealousy leads to injury. Not to mention to the fact that have a pretty prodominant wedding set on my left hand. So, I just wanted to get out of there, fast. Well, Carla, was too busy laughing. Shes like "he is all about you." Umm...no. I am married...sometimes not happily married, but married just the same, and the good times far outweigh any rough spots. She teased me all the way home. She even told my mother when I stopped by to pick some things for there on the way to my house. I told my husband before she could embellish anything to him...and he grounded me. Yeah, like he can do that!
He said I am not allowed to hang out with Carla anymore!

But it wasnt anything I did. I didnt dress provocatively or anything...I had the buzz off look from the beginning...I wasnt acting available...he just really liked me, I guess.
My husband said I should have complained to the manager, and caused a scene. What was I supposed to do?? Shove him out of the booth? I was embarrased, the other patrons were kind of glaring at me....like "you restaurant hussy"....but I was innocent. I didnt do anything.
Should I have complained to the manager? I mean, yes, I was uncomfortable with it, and I usually am much more temperamental, but I was tired, and just wanted to go home and enjoy my night. He was a terrible server to begin with, not just because of that....and thats why he isnt getting tipped...not because hes in another state. Of course, we left him a tip, we never dont leave a tip...but my husband really thinks I should have complained to the manager. I dont. I didnt care about it. But its definitely too late now, because I dont even remember his name!
But I can tell you...I wont go there without my husband, anymore!

If he had went just *a little farther* with his advances, I would've told the manager. If there was no real harm done, it will just be a thing you and Carla can laugh about for years to come. Good for you being the bigger person and still tipping. I've worked waiting tables in college and bartending for years and I know how it is. Even though he really didn't deserve a tip...

Wow, that sounds like quite the evening out. Of course, it doesn't surprise me that you're irresistable to passers by lol. Seriously, though, it's totally up to you whether to bring the manager into it. I probably would have done exactly what you did. As long as you're comfortable with your decision, it's all cool. But man, the NERVE of that waiter.
On a separate point, you're kidding about your husband telling you you're grounded and can't go out with Carla anymore, right? Like, he said it in fun??? Or both of you know it wasn't a serious order? Sorry, if this is intrusive, but I worry about relationships where anyone (the man or woman) controls the other partner's activities.

Anyway, if I lived nearer to you, I'd get the name of that restaurant from you and go myself, just to see what's going on down there. lol

Diane, are you sure that you don't live here in Jasper? There's one of the mexican places that almost all the waiters are terrible flirts, they give good service mind you, but they'll flirt with any women who come in without men........case in point, I went there with a couple of girls, two of us were single, two married, and they flirt with me just as much as the single girls, and forever are making sexual comments and such. The last time we were in, I ordered fried ice cream, and one of the other
girls got my cherry off the top, the flirtiest one of the bunch asked me if I'd like another cherry, of course I told him yes........he came back with a saucer that had two cherries on it, with their stems stuck in a straw, and it looked just like a set of male genitals! I was too dratted shocked to even eat it, and I know that he ment for it to look that way, 'cause I realised that he and the rest of the waiters were watching to see my reaction!

Well, he was older than me...I dont know...maybe the guys at the table behind us were plotting something, and maybe he wanted it to look like I was taken...I dont know. But I am definitely taking my husband next time!

Oh, No! You make me laugh, telling me I am irresistable to passers by!
I appreciate the compliment! I am fine with my decision...I think I handled pretty well. And yes, I am joking...my husband was joking when he grounded me...its a little joke me and him and Carla share...we constantly go around saying "You didnt take the trash out...your punished." or "Some friend you are...you didnt call me...your punished." He was kidding. Secretly, I think theres a little nibble of jealousy...but I think it makes him feel good to hear his friends, co-workers, and obviously waiters say I am hot.

Whatever. The sun is hot...not me.
Oh...I will give you the name of that restaurant and the other one where some guy gave me his number and invited me to a party. Check it out...see what ya think...

I am not sure!! Maybe theres some code or something! I cant believe they did that to you! I would have definitely called the manager over. Thats inappropriate...not to mention offensive. You went to dinner, not a porn show! I hope you didnt give them the satisfaction of a reaction...I would have been like "Look, ya'll, the gentleman was wishing to auction off his services for a night...seems a LITTLE low priced if you ask me!" I would have embarrassed him right back.
Dont you hate it?? And you know they flirt with everyone that comes in!
I was just really shocked, because Carla is beautiful...but she says I have the personality and the looks...I just want to eat dinner in peace!
