Why is She Still So Huge?

My cat, Mamacat, gave birth on Easter Sunday (March 27th)...this makes her kittens 3 weeks old. She's still huge...I thought that the swelling would've gone down by now. It looks as if she still has one or two kittens in there -- is it possible for her to be carrying around dead fetuses? I figured that if that were the case, the decaying fetuses would've poisoned her blood by now...Ugh...awfulness.

Sorry to be so frank, but I'm looking for facts, here.
Thanks for all your help; I quite like this site!

I definately didn't let her outside...I will get her to the vet ASAP...I'm dreadfully worried about money, but perhaps I could find a cheaper clinic. (I have to save the vet, sadly, for very immediate circumstances.)
