Well, I have been a smoker for about 16 years. UGH! Anyway, I have tried to quit in the past with gum, patches and medication. I did quit for about a month but got right back into it.
Everytime I talk about quitting, I come up with an excuse of why I can't do it. Like, I am too stressed with work right now or too stressed with school or whatever. I am just sick of it. Soooooo, I went out and bought the patches again today. I am going to either start tonight or tomorrow morning.
Please wish me luck!! I try not to get too overwhelmed about it because I know there is a possibility I will slip but hopefully this time I am done for good!!
My family is really encouraging but not pushy. I don't smoke in my apartment, I go on the porch but the more I learn, the more I know how dangerous the residue from cigarettes and so on can be harmful to animals. So, I am doing this for my kitties!!!

That's GREAT! My mom stopped smoking a few years ago and she says she's never felt better. She makes my dad go outside to smoke now, even in the coldest part of winter lol. Anyway, just take it one day at a time and remember all of us at TCS are behind you all the way!!!!

I think it is awesome you decided to quit! My mother quit using Zyban 8 years ago after trying to quit about 400 times....hasnt smoked since. My biggest advice to you is not to give up if you fall off the wagon! You can make it
*sends gum suckers and candies*

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I go on the 25th to have aricular therapy done to help me quit smoking. It's some sort of thing they do with your ear that sends a message to your brain and helps you not want to smoke. I know several people that this has worked for, one was a 3 pack a day smoker! My husband and I are doing it together. So, I feel for ya. We can pm each other if we need encouragement.

Yea!!
I am so happy to hear that! Good for you! I will cross my fingers that it goes well for you both.
I agree, encouragement is essential to this process I believe.

Woo Hoo Aimee! Good luck - take it one step at a time, Hopefully it wont seem so overwhelming that way... Hopefully! My husband quit 3-1/2 years ago and I swear it was just as hard on us
Guy at work just quit too - he was a 3-pack-a-day chain smoker. He used patches also along with WellButrin. Whatever it takes. Good Luck!!!! We're pullin' for ya!
