Every week I do something slightly different with the opening thread... like start it a day late, so today I'm going to try something else different. I'm not going to announce a pick. This time I will ask for suggestions. If you are participating this Friday or Saturday there's a better chance that we'll choose that movie. So far I think Pinklazy226 and Deb-used-to-be25 will be watching this weekend. Ari has suggested Office Space. Off the top of my head are still Runaway Train, My Fair Lady, The Notebook and The Phantom of the Opera. Any suggestions or agreements with any of these movies?

Okay, before I went to bed last night, Katherine was the only person to mention that she would be watching a movie, (other than people who had participated before) so I went on a whim and asked her to pick a movie out of the suggestions. We will be watching Office Space this week.

I don't think I can take A Clockwork Orange directly after Fight Club. My suggestion is Sneakers.

The Notebook was lovely but I won't watch it again. Too sad for me.

No that's totally not true! People think it's a chick flick but literally every guy I know that has seen it thinks it's a GREAT movie! Whether it has romantic themes or not, when something is a good movie, it can't be denied!!

I'll participate this week! I'm all for The Notebook or Office Space. The Notebook is very uplifting and incredibly romantic to me. It's interesting to see how many people view it as "sad" and how many view it as being more uplifting!

IMO, it all depends on how you view it. I know some people who think it's incredibly sad, however I (along with many of my friends) have always viewed it to be incredibly beautiful and that there's truly nothing sad about it. More like it's a divine ending. It's my all time favorite movie.

Young people meet just prior to WWII and the movie is their story. If you want any more specifics you can PM me and I'll try my best to not give it away. I'm just afraid of saying anything more in the thread as a whole like this.

Ok, now I remember seeing the previews. Looks like a beautiful love story. I wanted to see it after it came out on DVD (I won't see tear jerkers in theaters...I don't want to cry in front of everyone).

I saw it twice in theatres, read the book and the sequel, and since Brendan got it for me for Valentine's Day I've seen it three more times. My screensaver is The Notebook for goodness sakes (but that's because I love Ryan Gosling lol)!! I just love it! Let me tell you, I have cried EVERY time! But like I said, I don't think it's sad at all, I cry because it's so darned beautiful!
