What a surprise.......

Shamrock decided for some reason today that the middle of my unmade bed was a good spot to take a poop. I found this one out when i put my hand on the bed without looking and you can pretty much figure out the rest. I have been away for a few days and my roomate neglected to change the litter boxes which were both rather dirty. I am thinking that was his way of saying hey pal time to change the box but I wanted to know if there would be any other reasons he would do this. He has used the litter box from day 1 and I've never had a problem with him. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

Your explanation sounds like a pretty reasonable one to me. Cats can be very particular about where they go, and how clean it must be. He was probably communicating in no uncertain terms to the human who he knows will take care of it. At this point, I wouldn't blame the cat...I'd blame the roommate!

If he does it again after his litter pans are cleaned (he should have two pans) please get him to the vet. It is possible that while you were away this stressed him so much he became ill.

Thanks, after hearing that I'm pretty sure he was a little irritated at the fact his litter box's were dirty. He knows I'm not happy with him but how can you resist those kitty eyes?!?! Thanks!

I can sympathize! Astrid (who has passed) took a dump on a new comforter minutes after I put it on my bed. Litter pan was clean so apparently she didn't like something about the comforter.

Maybe he was intimidated by the leopard print sheets!!!
