That's a neat site. I filled up this morning and paid $2.05/ gallon.

I remember when I first started driving, I was paying .69/gallon!
I doubt I'll ever see that again!!!!!!

$2.05??? I'm moving to where you are, Catherine!!
Cheapest I can find is $2.22....
You know, for such a poor state, WV sure is expensive to live in (relative to the average salary). Next time someone talks about the "low" cost of living here, I am going to strangle them. lol

I've never thought that WV was a "low" cost of living area. I've always thought it was an expensive place to raise a family. Never been there but I base that on what we pay and what others pay to live.

An average home in our area is say $125,000 for 1700 sq. 20 year old home. Or upwards of $350,000 for a brand new home with about 2300-2500 sq. feet. Sorry, but I'll take my 25 yr old home and add on to it before I pay the price they want to new ones today!

What's a gallon of milk cost you? I pay $3.29 (I think) A loaf of storebrand bread is .99.

$2.53 here on beale, last time i filled up... i am so lucky i have a little 4-banger engine... but the tank is so small(so it is only about 25-30 bucks to fill it up each time) but i have to fill it up ALL the time... off base i have seen gas prices that are like $3.02...
that is crazy...

i still remember when me and my mom used to go get gas and there were two across the street from each other and they would always try to make their gas 1cent cheaper... it averaged at about 96cents a gallon....

ah... the good ol days

Well, here in Canada we use the metric system, so I don't know what this translates to in Yankee, but I got gas today for 79.8 cents a litre.....and that's dropped significantly since a few weeks ago, when it was in the 90s. If I had had the money to do it, I would have filled up!

Here in Asheville, they reported the highest gas prices in the state - the lowest I have seen so far is 2.15

Groceries, rent, gas, etc are every bit as expensive as in the rest of the US (except major cities, of course). Auto insurance is higher here than in all 5 surrounding states. That gets really bad when you consider that wages here aren't too great. We pay the 13th-highest state income tax, and have the 2nd-to-worst median income. Oh, and our sales tax? 6%. I'd LOVE to know where all that tax money is going...certainly not to state employees. I could go to any other state and make more for doing the exact same job. (Don't tell me to move; I'm already trying to find a city I like! lol)
About the only thing that's cheaper here is property value...probably because no one wants to move here. That's nice when you're buying, but crap when you're selling...and why I am not going to buy a home unless it's in another state.

Movin' on up!
Here, the lowest is about $2.26 and I've seen it as high as $2.39.

Almost everything else, in Tucson is fairly reasonable. The median price for a new home is about $156,000 and resale is around $138,000. In December 2001, we paid $90,000 for our 50-year-old 3-bedroom brick house. Now, it is valued at about $135,000.

Groceries aren't bad. I watch for sales and stock up. Right now, bread is $1.00 a loaf, 80% lean ground beef is $2.99 per pound and boneless, skinless chicken breasts are $1.88 per pound. Saturday, I got out of the grocery store, for $58.00 and I did buy some junk food.

WV IS expensive to live in!! When I first moved to VA, my car insurance dropped almost 50%. I used to live on the border of VA/WV and EVERYTHING was cheaper on the VA side.
