Scary article, my mom called me and told me about it - it happened this Friday, in the middle of the night.

this cruiseship got hit by a 70ft wave, which shattered two cabin windows on 9th and 10th floors (tha'ts HIGH), flooded 60 cabins and threw 2 jacuzzi tubs on the roof clear off the ship.

They offered 50% off to all guests on the ship, and free drinks!

After reading it, I was thinking, what would i do in this situation? We took an early cruise to Bermuda once, from NY, in May, and on the way back we had very rough weather, in fact, you could not walk straight on the ship.

I guess after the shock wears off from a hit like that wave, i'd say thank you for the 50% discount for this cruise, but would not book
another cruise with the same company, even at 50% future disc.

What would you do?

Rough weather, 70' waves are not the fault of that cruise line. So I wouldn't fault the line for what happened. But I don't know if I'd ever be on a cruise again.

One thing people aren't thinking about...if that ship wasn't there to break the wave...could you imagine how tall it would have been when it hit land?? They gain height as they travel over water.

First, I'd be glad that I wasn't up in the middle of the night in one of the jacuzzi's.
Then I'd try to negotiate for free food instead of drinks... unless the food was already included.

It depends on how traumatized I was after experiencing those waves. I've never experienced such a huge wave. Half off the price would be tempting. Guess it depends on which is strongest: my fears or my love of a bargain.

Food is generally always included so you'd already be set there! It's usually just alcoholic beverages that you pay extra for.

I would be pretty freaked out, but I wouldn't be upset at anyone. I might not go on a cruise again for a while, but I doubt I would give them up as they are such fun and a freak accident like that is so highly unlikely!

They showed home video from teh cruise on the new tonight, plus, had those on live tv who were on this ship at the time the wave hit. They said those mostly affected were the passengers on the front of the ship.

The water-soaked rooms and those empty jaccuzi barrels (where tubs used to sit) where most disturbing

Remember several months back a huge wave hit this cruise ship for students? It is a floating university and it was hit by a huge wave.

yeah, i just can't imagine waking up to this in the middle of the night, especially if you just happen to be in one of the flooded cabins
