This morning we had supplies to fetch so we were on the freeway going to Eugene. Traffic was heavy and we were flanked by semi's and doing about 65mph. Suddenly in one lane near us, a semi hit a 20 foot extension ladder in the road! It flew up and over and landed in our lane! Mike couldn't swerve (to much traffic) so he hit it,and thankfully only clipped the end that was already smooshed. We pulled over as soon as we could to check for damages and I had the major shakes when we stopped. But the truck is fine, and we are too. Had we been in our car and not the SUV the outcome might have been different.

How scary MA! I'm glad you and Mike are OK, and the car too. I can understand why you'd need to decompress after that.

Yikes! Just hearing that gives me the shakes! I'm glad you're both okay!
One of my students had a ladder fall off the roof of his car last autumn, and it went through the windshield of the car behind him, badly injuring the woman driving.

Scary! I used to have a pretty long commute to work, and one day when I was driving there on the freeway, a huge piece of plywood flew off the back of a truck. The car in front of me hit it, launching it into the air. I had a split second to think that it was going to come through my windshield, but fortunately it hit the grill of my car. I pulled over as soon as possible, and was more than relieved to see that it only broke one of my foglights and put a scuff in my bumper. I got lucky! Scared me so badly, though. I thought I was going to have heart failure, my heart was pounding so hard!
I'm glad you guys are okay. It can be awful scary out there on the road sometimes!

Whoof
! Many years ago, before I knew him, my father-in-law had a similar experience. Except he was riding his Goldwing motorcycle at the time. There was a ladder in the center of the road and the car in front of him just straddled the thing. He didn't have that option as he didn't see it in time and rode over it
! It's a testament to his skill that he made it without incident. Except possibly for nearly having a heart attack
of course.

Mary Anne, I'm so glad to hear that you and Mike are ok! It's no surprise that you have a guardian angel considering all the good work you do. I'm sending vibes that the decompression process is speedy and that you'll feel calm again real soon.

Hissy, pretty much the same thing happened to my mother years ago. She wasn't hurt either, but very shaken up, just like you must be. I'm glad to hear you're both physically ok and I'm glad that you were in your SUV.

Yikes! Now that my heart has returned to its appointed place and is no longer in my mouth...what a scare! Thank God you are both OK, and no serious damage done!
