Anyone heard of a cat having freckles in its ears? Otherwise ive got some odd mites..

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone heard of ear freckles? My black cat has freckles above her eyes, but I just noticed taht she also has the brown spots in her hears. They arent tiny spots like mites, and they arent as dark, but they are big splotches, like if you were to stain something.. either they are freckles or some odd type of mites. I tried cleaning the ears with a q-tip and then a slightly damp washcloth but it doesnt come off so I'm assuming its freckles? I wasnt reall y sure where to put this but I've never seen or heard of a cat with freckles before O_O

She's not really black either, but that kind of dark dark brown, because in the right light you can see she is striped, plus she has a white spot on her chest and one on her belly.

It's probably just pigmentation. Jamie's ears are pink and brown inside.

Adelaide has deep brown "freckles" in her ears. When she first came into our garden, I worried whether she had a problem with her ears, but it's just her colouration.

Just a suggestion - check out sites featuring Sphinx cats. Most of them seem to have pink skin with brown or grayish-brown splotches. Many short-haired dogs also have "freckles" on their stomachs.

It could be wax build-up, too. My Bella has chronic problems with dark waxy build-up in her ears. I've had her to the vet twice for it, but she hasn't ever had mites. Just dark, YUCKY wax.

I clean the outer surfaces gently w/ Q-tips and I TRY to get solution in there but I still haven't perfected the technique and I usually wind up w/ more on me and the walls than in her ears!
