Hey all,

Wellll, I have a Queen, just about to give birth (in her last 2 weeks)... This is the first time I've ever allowed one of our animals to get pregnant... I really wanted her to mate around 1 yr old, but she escaped on us and got pregnant at only 8 mo. I am hoping she'll be ok... She seems extremely healthy...

One of my concerns is that she is not immunized yet... With prior kitties we have waited until they were going in to get fixed before their vaccinations, but it didnt happen that way with Boo-kitty...

Anyways, she is getting very close... She escaped around Feb. 28th, near the end of her heat cycle... She was gone for 5 days.. (scared us to death!)... Anyways, she returned pregnant...

So I am calculating her giving birth around May Day...

Her behaviour is starting to change abit... She wants more of my attention and is hanging out in the room Im hoping she'll choose to give birth in... I made her a little nest and she is in and out of it... Its not a box, but its padded and I keep introducing it to her... (i figured I'd change to a box when the kitties were a week or so old...) She's not quite sure yet.... She just may choose a different spot...

Ok, so I can feel the kitties moving inside of her... I think I can also hear them... Does that sound STRANGE to anyone??? Is that what I am hearing??? Its kind of loud... it sounds like small pops and squishy... hard to explain...

I saw a sort of discharge today... It was yellowish... I am hoping she doesnt give birth prematurely... she is pretty small with a very large belly... I'm guessing 5.5lbs-6lbs...

Ok, Ive gone on enough... Any feedback would be great... This is a very special event for our family... My daughter(almost 11) has always wanted a sis or bro and I cannot provide that for her... We thought it might be good for her to be involved in a birth process of some sort... We are very excited and also nervous... I want it to be just right.. ( I know that sounds lame and unrealistic)...

I was thinking about moving a small sleeping area into the room for my daughter... She is very close to the Queen and wants to be there for her...

Ok, enough said...

ADVICE! please!

Blessings,
~Spirit

From what I know about birthing( which isn too much) the little yellowish discharge is the mucus plug, which is totally normal
They get rid of this about 1-2 weeks before giving birth
Probably more like one week for you since the kittens are so active inside! Make sure to watch your queen well. Being so young and not weighing so much, she may have problems with birthing. Make sure to keep the number of a vet closeby, and check in with them first so that they know if there are any complications, you will be in! I am thinking of having a litter from my cat too, but not until she's alot older because she is really skinny (She was the runt so she's a bit smaller then normal cats) I know even at a year my cat wouldnt be able to take birthing kittens o_O No way. SO yes you just need to watch her when she gives birth. Also make sure to check a couple times a day for signs of nesting/birthing. When my cats momma gave birth, it was about 4 o'clock in the morning. I had been up late on teh compy till 2 and I saw her in my bedroom licking herself and didnt think anything of it. I had to get up at 6 to go to work, adn when my mom picked me up she told me Jasmine had had 4 kittens! Be careful where she has them too! Because we didnt se her she had her kittens in a very tiny space between the desk and the wall! There's nothing wrong with moving the queen into your daughters bedroom, or putting a nestbox in there too. Just as long as she knows not to play with the kittens too much when they are little. I had my kitten, it siblings, and its momma in my room! Its so much fun to watch them sleep and squiggle and eat! Make sure to take lots of pictures, and if you dont want her having any more kittens, make sure to take her to a vet and get her spayed. From what I've seen around here cats can get pregnant again very easily. Make sure to keep her inside and away from any non-altered male cats. Make an appointment at the vets right away when the kittens are weaned. She can get preggers even a week after weaning them!

Thanks for the reply...

I feel mixed emotions about her being pregnant... I am really happy, but sad too, because she's so little...

Shes actually kind of growing into her tummy! haha!

What I mean is that before she looked so awkward being small yet a big mama belly, now shes abit bigger and so her tummy doesnt seem so HUGE!

She looks bigger on one side... Im betting there is 3 kitties... 2 on one side and 1 on the other...

anyways, she's in her birthing room alot... I dont quite know what nesting is, but when she's in the house shes in that room...

she's not eating as much lately... Going potty alot...

anways, Im concerned but trying not to be fearfull...

Im sure she'll be just fine...

*crosses fingers*

Thanks!
