Have you ever come home early from anything because you missed your cats? Let me give you some examples of how my cats run my life.[/list]1. Last year Eric and I left a tied Phillies game in the ninth inning b/c we missed the cats.2.We are huge Eagles fans and we chose to watch the Super Bowl at home by ourselves so we could dress the cats up in their Eagles jerseys!3.We are costantly leaving parties b/c the cats are home by themselves ( poor things )4. Over the winter we got an amazing suite in Atlantic City to see a show; the plan was breakfast in bed ,sleep until 11:00 , we left at 7:00 am b/c we missed the cats!5. Last year we stayed home on our vacation b/c Picasso was still a kitten( God for bid! )6.Yesterday we left the Art Museum early not b/c I was puking my guts up the night before but b/c we missed the cats 6.We are afraid to have children b/c the cats mights get jealous
7.We are afraid to have children b/c they might be allergic and we might have to get rid of them ( the kids not the cats of course ) 8.I hosted thanksgiving at my house and Eric thinks it disrupts the cats having so many people in the house ;he wants to move the venue!
9. He is scared to go on vacation this year b/c the cats will get mad at us when we come back!
Are we crazy or what? Does anyone else do crazy things like this b/c of their fur babies I obviously dont expect anyone to be as psychotic as we are!

You're not alone!

I always make my out-of-town trips as short as possible because I worry sick. I leave them under the care of "cat sitters" but I don't trust them. I call home to check on them as often as I can.

Yeah I even thought of taking my cat on my vacation with me and find a cattery in town where I'm going.

I hate leaving my cats when I go away - but since most of the trips I go on are cat shows I always get to take at least one of my babies with me!

lol, its not crazy

when Heidy and Monty were kittens and I had to go away I would frequently cry because I missed them and I was very afraid something was going to happen to them, even when i left they with my best friend- like "they might fall off the veranda, or "get outside on the road", or "my best friends dad (who doesnt like cats) or her brothers will hurt them", even when I left them with my best friend!

I am glad I am not the only one. I used to be able to go places because I had a reliable sitter who would stay at my house the whole time I was gone, but she got married and moved away.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who misses the kitties when I'm gone.
Last year, I spent two weeks in Italy (the longest I've been away from them). Wasn't too bad at first because I knew they would be well cared for. Then, I saw a tuxedo that looked like my Gracie and had to call right away to be sure they were okay. When I got home, the "girls" (didn't have Peter yet) met me in my front hallway. I just dropped my bags, hugged them and cried!

My husband and I try to take turn for vacation so that our cats will not be left alone. However, I never get the chance to go for a vacation with my husband.

We put our cats into the boarding house during our wedding and they came back crying. I really see Mui Mui and Brownie wet eyes. They suffer from running nose too. I tell myself never never never put them into boarding house again.

I am leaving on vacation on Friday and I am worried about leaving my babies even though the love of my life (their dad) will be home with them. NO ONE takes as good of care of them as me.
It will take me a couple of days to have everything they need on hand for them. I think it takes me longer to get them prepared as it does for me to pack. Then come the directions on exactly what to do and the daily phone calls.

No you are not alone. My husband calls Bijou from work and talks to him on the answering machine so he can hear his daddy's voice. (I must say I have also done this.
)

Yes, the cats definitely OWN US.

That's kind of like that question that if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

When we went looking for a house, it had to be one with no stairs or only small flights of stairs because we were worried about Forest being able to get around. (We ended up getting a split level...two small flights of stairs that Forest has no problem with...he just wobbles his way right up and right down.) It also had to have at least some windows with deep sills where the cats could sit.

OMG, that is too cute!!! I laughed so hard at #7

I totally agree. I love love love halloween and my girlfriend had a party last year (the day before halloween). Well, I was excited to go and get dressed up but hated leaving Jessie home alone. She was 17 and probably ok that I would be gone for a bit but that didn't stop me from leaving the party early to get home to her. I installed an alarm system in my house that has motion detectors and smoke alarms and if the someone would break in or smoke alarm would go off, it calls my phone and an emergency line to contact the appropriate authorities. Now, I did not get this for my own protection I got it to protect my kitty so I could be alerted if something was wrong!
I actually have not taken a vacation in a long time because I worry about leaving her. Now that I have kittens, there won't be any long periods of time away for me!!!!

My husband and I work in the same building and email each other photos of Mika during the day... and talk about him at lunch.

When we stop forgetting to do it (er, or find chew resistant cord protectant) we'll be setting up a webcam in the room he stays in while we're at work so we can sneak a peak when we're missing him.

I worried all the way to work about what would happen to Mika if the house caught on fire. For no reason.

That is too funny! Since Eric has a home office he'll call me at work so I can say hi to the boys, they meow and purr into the phone! He'll call me to tell me if they did something cute, then the brat will tell me he's taking a nap with the cats,If he has to go on appointment and leave them he gets so upset.

I always talk to Beau on the phone when I am away for more than an overnight. The person who cares for him calls me, and holds the phone up for him and I talk to him. She tells me that he always looks at the phone, trying to figure out where I am. I miss Beau like crazy when I am away from him.
