I'm aware of the statistics of pedophiles who were molested as children... but so what? That certainly doesn't justify their behaviour, and shouldn't let them off the hook in any way for the crimes they've committed.
I believe convicted pedophiles are constantly looking for ways to dupe people into believing THEY are the victims, so they may milk any little past wrong done to them to try to dodge accountability. These people have a name... they're called sociopaths.
Even if they have were abused as a child, as an adult they made that decision to abuse children and repeat what obviously hurt them. Why perpetuate the "cycle" of abuse if one is consciously aware of how destructive it is? Get some :censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor::censor: therapy already.
With respect to one-time offenders, you're right, there probably is no such thing. However, what I meant was CONVICTED offenders, who may be forced into therapy and may at least stop acting on their impulses.
I've been working with at-risk youth for years, and I've heard a lot of horrible things. It's no wonder these kids are so confused and damaged... Do we want these psychos wandering our streets and simply being relocated after serving a brief stint in prison?
Not me. My hope is that those who are in prison do come out... in a bodybag.

The percentage of molesters who themsleves were molested is frightening.
I really don't believe there is such a thing as "one time offenders" and the only way to STOP this viscious cycle is to isolate these people from society.
(just my opinion!!!)
