Hi,
I was wondering if anyone used this procedure (furminator) on their cats. If you are not familiar with it, it is a brushing tool used with solution after their bath. I had it done on our golden retriever (about 6 1/2 weeks ago) and it worked great, cut down the shedding over 50%. About 5 weeks ago we adopted Ellie, and I made an appointment for both of them (tomorrow). I just wanted to know if anyone else has used it.

Hello again,

Well I guess no one has tried or heard of it. As you know I brought Ellie to the groomer yesterday, for a bath and furminator. I brushed her last night and there was not much on the brush. I hope to get the same results as I did with my dog. How nice it would be to wear dark colors again.

I just read your thread about the furminator. I have seen this on TV and wanted to order it for my cats but not sure it works. If the groomer used it and it works, perhaps I should buy it. However, if you find out from the groomer that it shouldnt be used by someone other than a groomer, let me know. It costs about $25, and could pay for itself quickly as I have 2 cats.
Thank you

Hi,

I never saw it on TV, I found it over the internet I think furminator.com and on their site they have a list of groomers that use it, the one closest to me is 1 hour away and that is where I take my dog (golden retriever) and 2 cats (himalayan and persian). I take them every 4 - 6 weeks.

On the days I work my dog goes to doggy daycare, and there they also have a therapy pool and grooming salon, I mentioned it to the owner about a month ago, she was interested in it and wanted to research it, she just told me she ordered it and wants to test it on her dog before offering it.

To answer your question on whether you can use it, yes you can, both of them told me I could do it myself and save a lot of money especially having 3 animals to do, but I personally don't like to bathe the dog or cats, that is why I bring them to the groomer. Less work for me.

Let us all know how it works for you.
