or, I could be insane :-)

So, I started to notice that I would wake up in the morning to a presence around my head. Normally I would just bolt up, but a couple times I have lied there and noticed that Adelaide will get down right next to my nose (not interfering with breathing or anything) and wait for just a minute and then go back and lie down at the foot of the bed. ?? I figured that she was just looking for me to get up and feed her, but gave up on me and let me sleep--how odd, right??

So, one night I was having a hard time staying asleep and I noticed that she actually does a couple times at night, not just early in the morning, but she always goes back to the foot of the bed after a few seconds.

This morning, I felt her creeping up the bed so I played possum and "stayed asleep" and she put her nose under my nose. I always joked that she was checking my breathing... but I wasn't serious. Well, I held my breath for about 30 seconds and she started to paw my face like crazy and started trying to nuzzle my hand!! I opened my eyes and looked at her and she started purring and headbutting me

So, what do you think??
is it even remotely possible that she just checks to make sure that everything is ok??

Awww! How funny and what a cutie! I think maybe she might be checking up on you, it sure sounds that way to me!

Nano usually sleeps up by my side but moves down to my legs when my girlfriend sleeps over. When I'm fast asleep my girlfriend has observed Nano creeping up in the middle of the night, touching me with her paws or giving me a headbump, then returning to my legs and cuddling up to go back to sleep. So apparently Nano checks up on me, too.

I had a cat once who I considered to be my nurse. (In fact, it's the cat I use as my avatar. Her name was Katie.) I like to think that all cats have little extra jobs they perform around the house for us. Isn't it nice to know you've got a loved one looking after you?

You know, I didn't think about that...I suppose it is possible though, my father has it, but I have never noticed any of the symptoms that he had while he was awake in myself....I may have to ask my husband to keep an eye on me!!

that's really cute! I usually wake up to Juicy rubbing his face against mine...or him standing on my chest or stomach with a toy in his mouth, as to say "Come on, Mom, it's time to wake up and play with me!"

Maybe you really should get checked for sleep apnea. As I am sure we have all seen, our kitties are sensitive to changes in us and their surroundings. Fred sits on my pillow and watches over me when I am sick. He once stayed awake for 18 hours straight when I was really sick and slept for that long. My sweetie said Fred never moved or went to sleep. My daughter's cat has rubbed her belly with his paw ever since her pregnancy began to show. He likes to feel the baby move. I am convinced they know more than we do sometimes.

Or maybe you are just nuts! (Just kidding!)

But I have been testing this breathing theory for awhile! And the sleep apnea thing does make some sense..but its kinda freaky at the same time!

When I was sick a couple of weeks ago, Jasper stayed by my side until I started feeling better. He has even gone to wake Mom up if I sleep later than he thinks I should.

Tell Adelaide she better call the nurse's union...she missing out on a awful lot of pay, including the night shift differential! Now if only my two acted like nurses..I could send them to work for me!
