I am still debating whether to switch to a "natural" litter like Swheat Scoop or World's Best. My cats use Tidy Cats Scoop with crystals now and love it. The last time I tried to switch it on them (yes, I did it slowly) I ended up with pee on blankets, chairs, etc.

Is regular clumping litter bad?

I dont think it is a matter of bad but clay can have many different chemicals ... the more naturals are also okay after sugery , for kittens and can be eaten

In general, there is no problem with clumping litter as long as an adult cat is healthy and taking care of grooming itself.

In my opinion the exceptions to that "rule of thumb" are if a cat is very young, physically weak, recovering from surgery, ailing with old age, not fully litter box trained or having grooming problems.

I've finally completely converted Nano to Tidy Cat hard clumping litter. And that's what I hope to stick with for life, conditions permitting.
