Hi Gail-

As this is a forum and not a chat room, sometimes no one will answer right away. That isn't to say we are ignoring you. It could be that people reading your thread don't know the answer and we have great people here that will not answer threads unless they know the right answer. Or, our moderators and specialists are working or doing something else and can't get her right now. But rest assured that someone will answer soon. I do know that sometimes it is hard for humans to get milk to show out of pregnant mom's nipples. Kittens are more adept at it. I do hope this will be your female's last litter though. Pregnancy is so hard on cats and unless you are a registered breeder, all cats should be spayed or neutered.

There are links at the top of this pregnancy forum that you can look through and websites to read while you wait-

I'm no expert, but I know I read that milkcan come in anytime from a week before kits arrive to the day before, or even when the kits are born. I took my Willow to the vet today and even she had trouble expressing milk from all her teats. She said it was really tough, even when you do know what your doing, but that the kittnes are definitely not showing signs of lack.
As for how far along she is... in hidsight, and after talking with the technicians at the ER clinic last night, they told me that right before mama give birth she will appear to get a little smaller, this is due to the kittens dropping, but then they plump back up right before delivery. And I know Willow did appear smaller about two days before. In fact my husband noticed first and told me to look to see if she had a kitten somewhere

How did I know Willow was in labor? I thought she never would be! Monday night (well Tuesday morning) she ate some food around 4 (am) that was her last meal. She didnt eat her morning meal - I never thought she would refuse her canned food! Tuesday afternoon, I was petting her tummy, we sat on my bed for a good half-hour. All of a sudden she let out a meow and went to her box. From then on she was restless. She didnt have them until the next morning though. I know all cats are different. But that's how it happened for us.

But if you are a breeder, wouldn't you know these answers and be extremely familiar with pregnancy?

Just a question....

I wish Bonnie a healthy and swift birth

My Lexus is like that after a fashion ... while she does come into estrus more than once per year, she doesn't start cycling until about the first part of April. I normally breed her in May or June, depending.

Cats are as different as snowflakes - what is normal for one might be totally abnormal for another, so it is hard to say what the latter stages of pregnancy may be like for your girl. Lexus is normally still pretty active, even up until the day of delivery. She was happily playing fetch with my husband about an hour before she delivered her first kitten last October!

Kittens are normally extremely active for a week to ten days before delivery. I can't comment on the drop you are observing because I have never seen that happen - Lex is very dainty and petite and carries her babies in the same location all throughout her pregnancy. The milk production may not start until your girl eats the placentas after delivering - they help to bring the milk down.

Ummm, wait ... you breed Bengals? I am confused, Gail ... if you are a breeder, then I am more than just slightly surprised that you don't already know the answers to these questions.

And - what are you cross breeding? This comments allows me to think you are breeding moggies and as we ALL know, the world doesn't need anymore of those. You can find thousands of needy homeless moggies in shelters all over the world - why would you breed them????

i'm abit upset about your comments on this theard i haven't ask your option about my breeding.
i only tried to be nice and get envoled by telling you about my cat

i think you forget aswell i'm from england and thinks are different here
we have not spaying laws and we are not alloew to spay any cat until 6 months+

and here people breed corssed breeds more here because they are more popular

i breed only once a year and you dig at me for that( weird)

i know people that breed all year long just for the money

i don't my kittens got to pet homes where forms are signed to say they will get them spay
they go with insurance
they got with a kitten pack with everything in it
and go with spaying voucers so they get it cheap

so i think what i'm doing is ok and above board

I am truly sorry you allowed yourself to become upset by my comments. While it may be true that you didn't ask for my opinions about your breeding, the fact is that as someone who is highly concerned about the unwanted pet overpopulation crisis, I felt it was important to bring up my concerns. I appreciate the fact that you wanted to be involved and tell us about your cat, but by doing so, YOU have raised this issue - not me.

Good breeding eithics are good breeding ethics the world over - things are not so different that responsibility isn't a breeding requirement in England.

Can they not find needy, homeless, mixed breed cats in your shelters and rescue organizations there? If your answer to this is no, then I have been led to believe quite the contrary.

I am not "digging at you". I am questioning comments you left on a public forum which concerned me. As for those who "breed all year long just for the money", I know a few of these people too - and I am just as concerned with their ethics as I am with those who allow mixed breed animals to reproduce. Maybe if MORE people were concerned about it, the homeless pet problem wouldn't be such a HUGE problem.

It is admirable that you take such care with the kittens you produce and I do appreciate your efforts. But I am still against intentionally allowing even more non-pedigreed domestic cats to reproduce. What can I say? I just don't believe that things are all that different in England as they are here in the States. I KNOW you guys have a problem with unwanted pets too - and I'm afraid that unless you can cite some accurate statistics to the contrary, I will continue to believe you do.

I am going to close this thread now due to the fact that it has 1) raised concerns among the membership (and me) and 2) because it is strayed so far off topic. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to PM me or email me privately.
