Pinch me if I am dreaming, but did someone here say they were going to Asheville soon? Im pretty sure someone said they were going there, but for the life of me, I can't remember who!

If I am not dreaming, how long are you going to be here for??

I'm going to Asheville June 2-6, but I doubt I was the one who mentioned it on this board. You now have two people going to Asheville

MEMEME Kellye!!!! It was MEEEEEEEEEE! I saw this post title and was like "Hey...I think that HAS to be me!" My boyfriend and I are going from the 3rd of May to the 6th, staying in a bed and breakfast called A Bed of Roses. Our anniversary is on the 4th so that's the ocassion! Asheville is one of his favorite places so he knows it a bit, but I would LOVE a residents opinion of the best places to go, eat, do, etcetcetc! As part of our bed and breakfast stay we're getting 2 tickets to Biltmore, so I'm really excited about that! Heck, I'm just excited in general! That's what the countdown is for in my siggie!!!!!! WOOOOO!

I would love restaraunt or activity suggestions! I'm visiting my dad, but he's working for three of the days. I've been to Asheville a lot, probably 10 times, but I haven't been since I was about 17 years old. I thought about going out to the Biltmore Estate for a tour and I know that there's a lot of outdoors activities to do, but I'll mostly be out on my own. Any suggestions for a single, female traveler? I love going out to eat, especially Italian, Indian, and Vegetarian- although I'm not veggie anymore. I'm going to rent a car, so I'll have transportation.

Ohh sorry!

Theres a indian restaurant opposite Asheville mall called India Garden - pretty good food and they have a lunch buffet! I go there sometimes - I love Indian! It is next to Cici's pizza and Books A Million.

Katherine - I looked up A Bed of Roses and you are not too far from downtown Asheville - you could probably walk there - theres lots of neat little coffee shops like Malaprops, Beanstreets. Theres a whole lot of independent restaurants in downtown Asheville.

What do you like to eat or do? Helps to give me an idea!

I forgot to add the Italian - theres a great little italian restaurant called Little Venice - independent too - they just changed their menu and their food ROCKS! It is in River Ridge near the Kitchen & Co store, if you know where that is.

Well we LOVE spicy food! I looooove Indian so I'll definitely keep that one that you mentioned in mind. We also love mexican and places with really good fresh fish! We're always up for trying new things as well, we're adventurous food eaters! lol

As far as what we like to do...we both enjoy the outdoors very much! We love to hike, canoe, and I love to horseback ride. Obviously I know there are the mountains surrounding Asheville, do you know of any places that offer horseback riding or where we would go if we wanted to do a short hike or anything of the sort? We also both really like art of all kinds!

Like I said before, we're already going to Biltmore, but have you ever been there? If you have, I'm just curious about how much time we'll probably end up staying there that day? We'll be checking out the house, grounds, and winery.

Thanks for any input!! I'm getting reallllllllly excited about going (even though it is only a few days...we're poor college kids though so you know how that goes)!!!

Make sure you have a whole day for exploring Biltmore - the place is huge so theres a lot of ground to cover!

Seafood - mmm... I have heard that theres this restaurant named Trillum that has the best seafood but I have never been there. It is on Hwy 74-a.

There is a guide on outdoors activities here in Asheville - I hope this helps

http://www.ncguide.com/outdoors/horseback.htm

There are some art galleries in Asheville - you should check out the old Woolworths building in downtown Asheville - they have local artist's works there and its free. Theres another one I have heard about - Blue Spiral, also in downtown Asheville. Ive never been there but I have heard about it.

Just walking through downtown Asheville is great in itself - you can find tons of shops to look through, restaurants, and even just to people watch!

Great! Thanks so much Kellye!! I intend to have a very relaxing and wonderful time while we're there. We'll be driving from Florida so hopefully the traffic won't have us all wound up when we arrive.

Thanks Kelly, I'm VERY excited for it!!! I can't believe it's only two weeks away now! When we first planned it we had MONTHS to wait and now it's nearly time. Brendan and I decided last year that we would take a trip somewhere for every anniversary. Since we're both in college and I especially am always low on money they're usually short trips and places we can drive too, but it really gets us excited and gives us a nice little getaway the week after school gets out (as our anniversary happens to lie on May 4th, and the last final for the year is April 29th). Last year we drove down to Marathon Key and stayed in a cottage for a while and that was a GREAT time! I'll definitely let you know how Biltmore is!! I know I'm just going to be amazed by it!
