I just had my dinner at about 9:30. It was a salad (basic w/ just lettuce and carrots), some strawberries, pineapples, and kiwi, and a small california navel orange. And no, I'm not a vegetarian.

Dh is cooking tonight - salad, our special chicken dish that is his creation that we served at our wedding, and creamed spinach - from a Rachel Ray recipe

Tonight we had pork chops, french fries, and leftover black beans mixed with brown rice, salsa, and jalapeno tomatoes.

We took my Dad out for his birthday dinner tonight. As usual we went to Earl's (which may be familiar to Canadians from Manitoba west, and a few US folks). There are lots of things to recommend the place, but the most important is that Dad gets his salmon fix. So that's what he had, and Rob and I had the forno roast chicken, with scalloped potatoes and asparagus. Mega yum

Yep, went to Earl's by my old campus in Calgary many times! Sounds a lot better than what I had!

Well since I had such a busy day yesterday, I didn't get a chance to eat much. While I was out fishing I did chow down on a few mince toasted sandwhiches. Then at the carnival I had a punnet of chips!

Well today so far has been our weekly brunch. Because I am trying to stay off my leg (don't ask why), dh cooked the wonderful recipe I found for blueberry pancakes (made with buttermilk, the photograph of these sold me..each pancake is about an inch+ thick) and homemade omelettes.

I just can't diet, especially a lower carb one, without my weekly "breakfast" carbs meal
Keeps me on my diet!

If anyone wants the recipe, let me know (it's out of Martha Stewart's magazine..which I recently, to my surprise, began reading and actually enjoy. Clear sign that I am approaching 50!)

I think Brendan and I are going out for Indian tonight. Brendan is not a very adventurous eater and this will be his first time trying Indian cuisine. He's not into exotic sauces, but a pretty plain/grilled chicken or beef entree with rice will be right up his alley. Is it Tandori chicken that's cooked in that clay pot with not a lot of sauce? I am trying to come up with some things he may like on the menu before we go. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

When I married, my mom made me a 3 ring binder filled with family recipes - each one on a typed page slipped into a protective plastic sheet protector, so I didn't have to worry about getting anything on the recipe while cooking.

I've expanded this over the years with new recipes we've found (dh loves to cook also) or created, and will leave this someday to a niece or ? Someone I think who will enjoy the bit of family history via recipes

I love learning the history behind some of my Sicilian Gram's recipes...I **just** found out that the "Christmas Pizza" as we all called it because she only made it for my grandpa once a year at Christmas time, is actually a version of Sfincione. I also finally found what she simply called "basket cheese" is cacciocavallo, and found a place online to order it. I've been wondering for years, what the heck she was buying that she was telling me was 'basket cheese'!
