UK Elections

The UK elections will be held in about a month's time. Perhaps there is a possibility of a lively discourse by the citizens of UK elucidate the former subjects of the Queen from the commonwealth or even the American revolutionaries and the fair people of the EU of the issues that trouble the British public.

Is there any debate or perhaps it is a done deal and the Labour would sweep the elections just like how Chelsea swept the English Soccer/Football championship.

What are the issues? Would Charles Kennedy kissing of his new born son be considered as a politician kissing a baby or just a parent? Is tactical voting considered as a form of selling one's vote? If you could chose, Blair or Brown? Is campaigning on the red bus considered old fashioned?

What if years from now Prince William got into politics and become both Prime Minister and King! Just wondering...

And finally, one interesting fact of the day which you may or may not know. UK is not Great Britain for Great Britain only includes England, Scotland and Wales but not N. Ireland...Now you know.

Feel free just to comment on anything. Who would you vote for, just imagine if we all could vote whether or not we are from the UK. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/vote2...LD_UK&x=9&y=11)

I couldn't see our future king running for parliament some how?!

As for who i'm voting for?, that's between me and my ballot paper BUT i won't be placing my X on Labour!.

The Labour Party in the UK is somewhat similar to the New Democratic Party here in Canada.

Our federal NDP leader, Jack Layton, and his wife, Toronto city counsellor Olivia Chow are forward thinking social activists. Jack has actually written a book on homelessness, a cause he has devoted a lot of energy to.

Our provincial NDP leader, Howard Hampton, has written a book against privatizing power, and he hammered both Liberal leader Dalton Mc"Guilty" and now former Conservative leader Ernie Eves hroughout the televised debates during the last provincial election.

Actually, Jack and Olivia attend an annual event put on by a not-for-profit organization of which I was on the board of directors until recently. They are both very decent people, and Jack adds much needed new blood in our archaic political system with his charisma and vision.

Oops... misspelling on councillor above. I've been tired even while alert since kicking the sleeping pills, so I'm not too on the ball these days.

And Bumpy, when are you going to give up the mystery and vote since it is your thread (and share your name while you're at it )!

I will vote in the election but I haven't decided yet who for. The trouble is that each party has things I like and things I don't like. However, there would be no contest for me if our constituency had a Monster Raving Loony Party candidate. (they have an excellent website, it cheered me up no end).

I am so disillusioned with both main parties that I didn't go to the embassy to register to vote, a terrible cop-out. Probably if I were voting I would go Green or another protest vote for something I believed in.

Nope! I make it point never to vote in any post I make. It is a principle of neutrality. I make it a point to see things from both sides and there are only a few issues where I completely reject the other side.

One question I have for the UK people is, how did the conservative collapse so badly or rather how did the labour destroy them so effectively?

For me i think it's because conservative were hitting peoples wallets, be it in taxes or whatever and people just thought "right lets vote Labour!, they'll do a better job!"...........wrong!, because their just as bad, but if the truth be known they all make these promises but as usual they'll hit you for money somewhere else where you least expect it!.

You a Brit Bumpy?
