Mark Smith, take this!!!::

I just observed a black-capped chickadee picking up every little bit of Mooie's shed white cat fur from a porch mat and flying off with it for its nest.

Cats are beneficial to wild birds!

We have so much bird activity going on outside; robins, bluejays, doves, rufous-sided towhees, fox sparrows, song sparrows, and soaring hawks. The black-capped chickadee was back again, picking up little tiny bits of Mooie's white fur from the porch mat.

I can't remember which member it was (it was a while ago), but there was someone who would toss any hair they got off their cat after brushing it into the yard for the birds to use in their nests.

I brushed my horses a few days ago, left a huge pile of shedded coat in the corral while I turned them out to pasture. By the time I got back, the birds were raiding the pile for nesting material. I left it there, figured I could pick up what is left later

I always toss cat hair out the window for the birds to use to line their nests !
That's what you'd call an up-scale home:soft,fur-lined,what more could you ask for??

I have a big mockingbird in my yard that likes his cat hair fresh off the cat. Scooter was playing outside and it kept diving at him and plucking hair. Poor Scooter didn't know what to do.

Lol! When Mooie left the porch yesterday, we noticed the chickadee picking up bits of his white fur off the chair cushion, but so far he hasn't been dive-bombed. The next time I clean up cat fur around the house, I'll have to dump it outside. I wonder if it keeps deer away?
