My cat had kittens about 2 weeks ago. They just opened their eyes and one of the kittens makes this sound. It sounds like it hisses and sneezes after that. I think it's got asthma but can you just tell me if it does or not. My little sister thinks its hissing and spitting. My mum pointed it out first. I'm very worried. If it does have asthma what do i do?

your best bet is to either take it to the vet or ring your vet for some advice.

hopefully someone will more knowledge will be along in a little while.

Kittens will make a hissing noise, it's normal and quite cute if you ask me. However, the sneezing could mean that it has an upper-respiratory infection...I would recommend seeing a vet about the sneezy one, because URI's can quickly zap the health of a kitten...

I'll go to the vet with the kitten. The weird thing is with the cat one eye isn't fully open. It hardly whines when you pick it up.

When I raised a litter of kittens, their eyes did the same thing. Let them open on their own, though. Unless, they look really nasty and gooey, in which case it should be checked out.

My kittens also sneezed. They turned out to be perfectly fine and only sneezed for a couple of days. Had I known at the time how potentially dangerous URI's could be with kittens, though, I would have taken them to the vet to be checked out.

To be safe, I would have the vet take a look. I've heard several people say that when you take a young kitten in, it is best to pack up the entire litter and momma with you...not completely certain myself, so maybe someone else can jump in and tell you for certain.

I'll bet they are precious. You sound like you are doing a wonderful job at helping to raise these kittens! God bless you!
