I know this is a cat site, but many of you have dogs too, I am gettinfg a puppy in the next 6 months or so and I would like recomendations on food. I have 3 older dogs now who are all on science diets prescription food for their different ailments (and I get it at cost). With the new puppy since it will be a small breed and I won't be going through so much food I want to get the best that I can (But not have to drive to some remote pet store to get it, because they are the only ones who carry it). I have my cats on Nutro Natural choice so I have looked at that brand, but would like more suggestions.

Look at the ultra .. I find for small dog they like the taste and will eat enough.... If they have allergie issues try the chn rice and oatmeal..My yorkie eat the natural choice senior with a sprinkle of the venison..lmao.. she eats better than me. If you want a novial meat look at natural balence duck and potato or the venison... I do like innova dog food... chn soup is okay but i dont like the omega 6 and 3 levals.. Merrick makes a dog food that looks good... mine love there wet foods..

I was telling my husband that it was a good thing that we didn't have the puppy yet (a poodle puppy) because if it was white we would have lost it and wouldn't find again until the snow melted.

I have a toy poodle. He has done very well on Timberwolf Organics (not readily available for everyone unfortunately) and Innova.

We have a 7 month old puppy, and I just bought some Nutro Ultra and he loves it! The only thing he would eat before that was Iams and I found the Ultra at Petsmart in trial sized bags and he really likes that one.

I have decided to try the Innova Evo, it is low carb high protien. I am thinking of getting a small bag of the cat formula to try too.

I will, it is kind of pricey, but if my cats like it I will probably add it their nutro formula instead of doing it as an only food so it is not so expensive. Had you heard of it before? The girl at the petstore said that she switched her dog to it and only has to feed a fraction of the amount to keep up the dog's condition because it almost half protien http://www.naturapet.com/display.php...D%271246%27%5D

I know alot about dogs systems and just wouldnt give a dog a food that high in protein unless it was a serious working dog.. dogs are very close to us in the need for balenced carbs , protein and fats.. I think the aafco(?) for a dog is 16% yet a cat I beleive is 26% ... I looked at the ingrediants and there not as digestable for a dog as I would like, plus it has dairy which in many dogs is a no no.. also the tomato worries me a bit , though i did give mine tomato pumace without trouble
jmho
I had read another thread on here and check it out.. for a young cat the cat version may be good...
