I have a mother cat with 11 day old kittens. she has been a good mother, but now seems interested in spending time outside, and has been diplaying signs of being in heat. She rolls around on the ground and makes a strange trilling noise. It is very similar to how she was acting before she got pregnant, only more so. I have to go outside to get her to go back to the babies. When she's in with the babies she does a good job of taking cre of them. She did recently move them under the bed, so I haven't had a chance to weigh them in a couple of days.
She was a stray cat that we took in last fall, but she is used to being outside a lot.
Questions: can she get pregnant this soon?

at 11 days old will she be leaving the kittens for longer periods of time?

Any advice will be of help. Simon

Simon, yes they go into heat right after birth. I would be wise to get her spayed as soon as possible. Also be careful, she will try and get outside because of her natural urges. So please do not let her out and be sure you guard the door when you go outside or come back in. They are quick when they have to be.

i wish you could tell my vet that

unfortunatly my vet wont spay maverick before the kitten in 10 weeks old even though he is almost fully weaned at 6weeks.

i dont know how i'm going to last a month in kitten season without her getting out if she goes back on heat

Well, that's good to know. I'll find out my vet's philosophy. This little feral kitty has NO interest in going outside ever again!

How could I have her spayed when she has such young kittens? Shouldn't I wait until they are eating some one their own?
