Our new mom of 8 hasn't really eaten much the past couple of days. She's very active and friendly, and an exceptional mother. Do you suppose she's just being a little picky? She was ravenous the first 2 - 3 days after the birth. The babies seem to be eating and sleeping just fine. What would be a clue to me that we would need to supplement? Thanks for everything, this site is the best!

Kim she may be to tired to eat- what are you feeding her? I would suggest kitten chow as well as kitten glop. It looks like she has quite a family to feed, and that depletes them quickly. I hope you are planning on getting her spayed after her kittens are weaned?

Watch her for signs that she isn't right, if she is extremely lethargic, or stops using the litter pan, or stops drinking- if her third eyelid comes over, or you see or smell discharge from her-

Again try the kitten glop and the kitten chow- those babies take a lot out of a working mom. You can find kitten glop at www.kitten-rescue.com

Thanks, Hissy,

I'm feeding her dry kitten chow plus canned cat food. I put the bowl right next to her mouth so she can eat if she wants. She gets up and come to see me when I come in the room, and her fur is nice and shiny. Looks like I will look up the Kitten Glop recipe!

Oh, and she will definitely be spayed. She was a feral.
