My Zoey is about 14 months could be 16 but I think fourteen ... She is still growing( ~3.5lbs in four or so months )... Currently she gets Nutros Natural choice Indoor adult and whatever is given to the older cat for wet food... My question is she is growing like a weed and a little thi( I anm using the dog wt check is there a cat one??) should she be getting kitten food ?? Vet says she can eat adult ( I knew that much...) the % is 33 protein and 14 fat..

If you scroll down the page in this link, you'll find a chart and description of the various stages between thin and obese cats:
click here

I would not feed her kitten food, just increase her wet food portions if she really is a bit thin, but you might feel best running that by your vet.

Thanks for the chart ... by that she is a underweight ... I am in process of looking for new vet.. he just seems better with the dog than the cats.. she is not a wet food eater most i get is 2oz a day..

Hmmm....I wonder if she'd do better with a just meat canned food such as the "au jus" line by Wysong? If she'd eat that, it would allow you to continue with your current dry food and just supplement it.

If not, you may want to consider a new dry food for her (I do think the Innova higher protein food mentioned in another thread today looked quite interesting).

Yes I am thinking I may need a switch, looked at the regular natural choice 33% and 19# instead of 33% and 14 ... I will see if i can get the all meat, could i just give her fresh ???

I defer to Pat and Alix as the Nutritional Expert on board, but personally, for a cat who is thin, I like kitten food. In fact, all of my cats have eaten kitten formula dry and canned until they were at least two years old.

The thing I like about the wysong, you don't then have to do any of the special prep, or take the great care I believe you need to do with raw. Maybe that just sounds lazy on my part, but I see me moving to homecooked, never raw, just my choice. Anywhoo...wysong's au jus canned would be good quality and frankly, convenient

This is outside my experience, except for discussing it once with my vet when we were discussing ibd and food allergies and cat foods etc.

I do know of Dr. Strombeck, and that Celeste Yarnall and Dr. Pitcairn are highly regarded by many (I do think one of the 3 if not 2, may use garlic as part of their recipes..so I'd just leave it out
)

Here is a page with some recipes, and a list of books by the above 3 authors:
click here

I hope this will be of use,
