I ran out of cat food this morning and could'nt go to my regular shop for food b/c I got off work to late so I ended up at petsmart and all they carry is junk so I ended up getting Royal Canin special 33. The ingredients contain no by products and the first 3 ingredients are chicken and chicken fat, but it has rice and corn flour in it.It also has dried egg ,fish oil ,brewers yeast ,L lysine, chicory, beet pulp in it .It doesnt list carb amount but has no more than 2.5% fiber no less than 33% crude protien no less than 22% crude fat. What I'm trying to say is is it ant good?

Yep- one of the best out there imo- I love their babycat 34 for young kittens. I have used their Persian skin care formula on one of my mixed breeds to smooth out a skin problem. They do their research and they have top-quality food-

Not exactly a horrendous food. I agree with Sharky, there are a few ingredients I wish they'd remove, but it's not a bad food.

My Marsh grew up on Royal Canin. He was on babycat until about 6 months, kitten #34 until a year old, and now he's on indoor #27 - and everything's great. His health, weight and coat are fantastic, and he's in optimal health

Special 33 combined with Senior (can't remember the #) is what I feed my cats. It's the only food I've found (after years of searching) that doesn't make Felixia vomit. She used to vomit 2-3x/day, but since she's been on RC the only times she's vomited have been when she's gotten into one of the other cat's prescription food. Woohoo! No more 'surprises'!

I just wish they would sell a canned version too - I prefer to feed a mix of canned & dry.

The boys normally get innova lite but either tigger or kaya has been vomiting so if this sensitive stomach formula works I might switch

i spoke with marsh's breeder last night, and she actually said that #33 special/sensitive is better than #27 indoor, because if contains less starch and carbs, and more fat/protein. so i went out and got a new bag already last night. I'll be switching him slowly over the next month

Hello, I have been reading your threads for several months now, and decided that I'd jump in on this one. I work at Royal Canin and would be more than happy to provide you with any information that you'd be interested in knowing or answering any of your questions. Since I check the boards, you can PM me, drop me a line to my company email address or I'll just keep checking the boards periodically and jump in when an RC question comes up. Below are the starch levels in the foods that you are discussing.....

Indoor 27 - 35.1% starch, 320 kcal/cup
Special 33 - 23.1% starch, 426 kcal/cup
Senior 26 - 27.75% starch, 430 kcal/cup
Oral Sensitive 30 - 27.9% starch, 323 kcal/cup

Please feel free to drop me a line on my company email any time you have [email protected]

Thanks for trying/feeding our foods to your cats. I have my cat on the Special 33 and I notice a difference in her. She often vomits food, but not on the Special 33 and it's good for keeping the weight on her too, she is a very lean cat who can use the extra calories in the Special diet.
