I posted a topic about getting a magnetic cat flap in the care & grooming forum. On Friday I went ahead and got one! yay

Friday evening I put Guin's new collar on, with the magnet so that he had some time to get used to wearing it before I fitted the cat flap.

Anyway, I was watching TV and I kept on hearing clunk, clunk noises coming from the kitchen. I went to investigate....

Guin was in the kitchen trying to eat his food but what stupid mummy forgot was that his food bowls are all metal so that the magnet on his collar kept on attaching itself to his food bowls!!! The look on his face.... I felt so sorry for him but it was really funny

I have just bought him some new plastic bowls so there is no more clunking and also, he is using his new cat flap with no problems!!

I would switch to glass or ceramic unless you like dealing with cat acne--

Thanks for the laugh!

Are plastic bowls no good then? .... He has a ceramic bowl as well but of course, I need spares.

omg, that cracked me up.
Poor guy.

That story reminded me of the first day we brought Eb home. She ended up in our office where we have a wall size mirrored door to the closet. Poor Eb didn't realize it was a mirror, and ran not once, not twice by three times into the door, before looking at us with this really sad pathetic face. I can imagine it being pretty much the same way Guiness probably looked at you. Man, did I feel bad, but it was pretty funny too.

Mine all wear magnets but I have to check them regularly - it is amazing the things they pick up outside that attach themselves. Yesterday Ellie had a chunk of iron fastened to her collar. But inside you need to be careful too - if they try to get too close to an abandoned plate a fork is liable to jump onto the magnet.

Awwww....!!!
I shall watch out for forks!

Atm there are tiny particles of dirt attached to his magnet - I think it's stuff that has been mixed in the garden dirt or something. I think he is also having problems getting used to the collar, I mean the guy has never worn one so now he is like, "what's this round my neck?"

Good grief!
How powerful are those magnets?

I did wonder too... I don't think the ones that Guin has are that powerful really. His food dish only had some dry food in at the time of the clunking!
