Its something that came to me last week when I was with him and its hung about in my head like an angry wasp. No matter how much I try and push the ideas away, they keep coming in my head. I would like to write them down in a sort of childrens story - but have no idea about how to do it or where to take it from there?
Has any of you written a story and had it published and if so, for children, how did you go about doing it?
Kev
Keep getting these ideas as I want something for Christopher to have of me when I am gone and he will look back with great and loving memories of his dad.

I think you should do it. It may be good therapy for you and how you've been feeling. I think you should first write it, and then start contacting literary agents and publishing houses. I have a connection with a top literary agent, so if you wanted, I could help you submit it to her.

Under the cats, mostly.
Kev I think that's a fantastic idea... I wrote a story for my first for her first birthday niece and I'm going to start writing one for my second... for her first as well. My first story isn't published... infact, it's not even written on paper yet because I'm STILL waiting for my other half to translate it into Danish for me
plus, now I've managed to lose the disk it's on - so when Sigrid finally gets it, she could be about 5! Write it down, get someone to proof-read it, find someone to illustrate (I'll volunteer for that one if you'd like) and then just simply get in touch with a publisher
You may find you have to try several publishers, but certainly one who specialises in children's books.... like Ladybird, or Collins - who do the Percy the Park keeper books. You'll probbaly find you have to pay a small fee, or a percentage of any profits... but yes, Chris will treasure it for the rest of his life
Fab idea!

I think a book/story is a great idea. Maybe you should start out by writing down all of the ideas you have floating around in your head and see what you end up with. Maybe you could post it here, and we could help you with it as well. I write too, and I have 4 finished books, and I have 2 in progress. They arent published, and probably never will be, because I dont think they are all that good, but they get my friends hooked, and get them reading to the very end, and its just something I like to do to escape my own reality sometimes

I think that your son would probably cherish it, especially since you put so much work and yourself into it.
Good luck...let us know how it turns out!

Hi guys, this is my first time here and a I saw a post kinda on this subject. i too would love to write a book and have no clue where to start. I had a really difficult childhood and have always wanted to write it all down. I just don't know what kind of market there is for that out there. I thought of myabe gearing towards troubled teens. Or as a fiction novel with each ordeal as a chapter etc. I also thought about just writing adventure books or something as well.I just love to write and would love to be able to come up with something i could do.And I dont have the first clue on how to get something published or printed etc. Anyone have any suggestions or know of some good websites with info on this?

Go to the bookstore and buy the Writer's Market- it is about $80.00 but well worth the price. In it you will find all you need to know about where to submit your book proposal
