The first vinyl album I bought was "Rio" by Duran Duran. I still have it (although my record player refuses to work anymore). The first CD I bought was "Monty Python Sings", even before I had a CD player.

Another ex-Durannie here!

My first vinyl 45 single was "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil
My first vinyl LP was "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" by Duran Duran
My first cassette was "Rio" by Duran Duran
My first 8 track (remember those!) was the soundtrack to "Rock & Roll High School".
I got all these when I was 11 or so... 1983ish.

My Durannie phase didn't last long though. I got into punk when I was 13.

Much later... my first CD was "Trompe La Monde" by The Pixies, the only one mentioned that I still have in my music collection.

I bought a lot of 45's in the mid 60's but couldn't tell you what they were - top 40 probably. My first full sized album was The Jackson 5 ABC album sometime in the 60's when it first came out. The Jackson's lived over the border from us in Indiana (myself on the south side of Chicago) so they were almost a local band. And I hate to admit it, but Michael Jackson and I are the same age so there was some twisted call to me back then.

By the early 70's my tastes had changed and my second album purchase was Jethro Tull's Living in the Past.

I didn't have to buy a lot of music - my 4 older brothers and sisters had quite the collection I could listen to all the time.

I think I've met my Bon Jovi match!

The only thing is I'm 15 and my school mates don't seem to approve!

Don't worry, I was around 15 when I started...your school mates will eventually learn to deal with your obsession just like mine did!

For my 30th birthday last year, they even gave me a Bon Jovi party...complete with pictures of him all over the house and even on the cake! I will never out grow Jon!
