"Nilsson Schmilsson", by Harry Nilsson, as a pre-teen! "Without You" is still one of my favorites. I actually still have the cassette.

This is really funny to read... Testament, New Kids on The Block, that bikini song, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper... etc.
I think my first bought music was Metallica. It was probably Ride the Lightning. I can't remember for sure though.

That was mine, too! I bought it at Sears. They used to have a record department. There were glossys of the boys that came in it or with it - Individual photos of the pictures on the front. My mother took me to the theatre downtown to see the "Let it Be" movie. I got the Beatles 1962 -1965 (or is it 1966?) CD for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I guess once a Beatles fan, always a Beatles fan. I think my next album was Meet the Beatles

Come on, y'all, that was a long time ago! Well, not THAT long ago. Anyway, I think the first ALBUM that I had was "The Chipmunks: Chipmunk Rock". Before you ask, I was still a child
. I don't remember what age though. The first tape that I bought was - I think - the soundtrack to the movie "Dirty Dancing". **Secret Confession Ahead - - I used to be able to do every dance in that movie pretty well as an early teen (always been obsessed with that movie). And the first CD, I think, was Trisha Yearwood's first one. I actually remember playing 8 tracks, but I was really young, so I don't remember which ones and I never bought one.

The first vinyl album I bought was "Rio" by Duran Duran. I still have it (although my record player refuses to work anymore). The first CD I bought was "Monty Python Sings", even before I had a CD player.

Another ex-Durannie here!

My first vinyl 45 single was "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil
My first vinyl LP was "Seven and the Ragged Tiger" by Duran Duran
My first cassette was "Rio" by Duran Duran
My first 8 track (remember those!) was the soundtrack to "Rock & Roll High School".
I got all these when I was 11 or so... 1983ish.

My Durannie phase didn't last long though. I got into punk when I was 13.

Much later... my first CD was "Trompe La Monde" by The Pixies, the only one mentioned that I still have in my music collection.

I bought a lot of 45's in the mid 60's but couldn't tell you what they were - top 40 probably. My first full sized album was The Jackson 5 ABC album sometime in the 60's when it first came out. The Jackson's lived over the border from us in Indiana (myself on the south side of Chicago) so they were almost a local band. And I hate to admit it, but Michael Jackson and I are the same age so there was some twisted call to me back then.

By the early 70's my tastes had changed and my second album purchase was Jethro Tull's Living in the Past.

I didn't have to buy a lot of music - my 4 older brothers and sisters had quite the collection I could listen to all the time.
