biting

hello!
i'm a first time cat owner. sometimes when i try to pick Blue up, if i dont succeed the first time, he gets really grumpy and bites me. the bites actually break skin so i'm a little worried/annoyed/in pain. Please help!

If he's biting I wouldn't pickhim up.

How old is he? It might be time to neuter him.

One thing that's worked for me in the past. When he bites (assuming its your hand) stick a finger right into the back of his mouth. Most cats will do their best to spit out your finger, after a few times they learn that biting is a bad idea. A warning though, some cats will just bite harder.

The best idea though would be to not pick him up if he's a biter, and wait for him to come to you.
