I work in a pretty small office, where we all know each other pretty well.
Everyone knows I'm a proud cat person (could it be all the pictures of my three babies?) and involved with a rescue group.

Lately, one of the woman has begun meowing at me instead of saying "Good-bye" at the end of the day.

Yesterday, (my birthday), they gave me a card picturing a woman in a ratty
bathrobe, standing in her kitchen surrounding by 20 some cats all over the counter, cabinets in floor. Inside, on person wrote, "this will be you in 20 years!

I don't mind, because it's all in good fun, but am just wondering if anyone
else gets this kind of grief from their coworkers, family and friends.

Fortunately, a lot of my co-workers are social workers like me. Everyone knows social workers are, for the most part, cat ladies

I have had a few commanders and clients, though, who have come in my office, taken a look around (I have pics of the kitties, as well as tons of photos of my girls that I use as a computer scren saver) that have just sort of wrinkled their nose or made comments about how superior dogs are, etc. Oh well.
I see it this way: we're blessed enough to know the joys that come with being owned by cats, and that's all that matters!

I don't and they know how passionate i am about my cats, but they also know that if they did mock i'd take them for a bone!!!

If they had sent me a card like that though i would have said something like " Yes, but add a couple of extra cats onto it!!"

There are worse things to be than a cat lady. Most of them are pretty happy. Would you rather be a cruel peson who hurts others for their passions; or better yet soemone who does not have a passion. Read about St. Francis of Assisi the patron saint of animals. Good thing he didn't listen to those who teased him about tkaing care of animals.

Yes everyone at works knows I'm a cat person. I have a pix of Bakker and Sheba on my desk plus a small toy cat. I can leave early for vet appts, I was allowed the afternoon off when Tommie was put to sleep and will be allowed time of for Sheba's court case next month. As I have no children I don't see why I should not be allowed to do things for my cats as opposed to others leaving work to attend their childrens events/dr. appts etc..........

Hurray for St. Francis! I visited Assisi last summer and now have a statue of Francis in the garden outside my front door. I'd definitely rather be the kind of person who cares about animals.

I don't get this from my co-workers but from hubby and daughter. They say I AM the weird cat woman who lives at the end of the road!
. If I had to think of one thing I wanted it to be - that would it!

I visited Assisi in the summer of 03 and brought back a plaque of St. Francis to hang near my desk - what a wonderful man.

Yeah- everyone calls me the single cat lady here!
An article was actually written about me a month or two ago here at my university regarding my passion for my cats and how I help various cats...

One thing that helps is that one of my co workers (1 of my best friends) is also a passionate cat lover so we often chat about our cats' antics!

For birthdays and Christmases at work, all co workers would give each other cards and/or gifts and I ALWAYS get something related to cats..

MY FAMILY calls me the crazy cat lady and keeps warning me that I will end up with 100 cats when I'm OLD AND that I would NEVER GET MARRIED AT THIS RATE!

Well people at work know I have cats and I do have pictures of my boys on my desk but I don't get much crap for it. But then I don't talk about them a lot at work.

Thankfully with my family just about everybody is a cat or animal person. My parents don't just buy me Christmas and birthday gifts they buy them for the cats too.
My cousin/bestfriend is a biggest cat person I know. Right now at her house they have four indoor outdoor cats and three that are ferals I guess you could say, at least they started out that way. One of them already is allowed to come into the house so I imagine he has a furever home already although they haven't quite admitted to that yet.

As far as the rest of my friends go they know that I have a wicked tongue and I would make them sorry if they made fun of me for loving my cats so they leave pretty much so well alone.

That being said I have no husband or children and I'm not sure that I ever will so my cats are my kids and pretty much so everybody knows it.

Would that be "Benny the Ball"? The very small one?

I loved this cartoon so much that when I was in San Francisco and saw a blue police phone box like the one in the cartoon that Officer Dibble used, I had to take a photograph of it
the family thought I was mad.

My coworkers know better than to say a dang word about the amount of cats I've taken into my home.

They all have pets (most of them have CATS) and they understand the cat-love and pet-love in general.

My office is like a museum; pics of my cats, kid, places I've been, etc. I have a folding screen for the cat's pictures.

But yah, when I took in Snickers and Dusty last year? Jeff said, "oh Steph you're gonna be like one of them old cat ladies who lives with 30 cats & doesn't be around people".

I said, so? Cats are better than people anyway, unless they're cat people themselves.

So blah.

I am really fortunate to have a mother who makes "the crazy cat ladies" from around the globe look sane! so i dont grief off of her.... how ever there is my nan, a woman who hates animals with an emense passion, when one of my babies jumps or breathes in her general direction she has a fit! im quite lucky work wise as one of the rreasons i got the job (other than my talent in the work place as a superb individual
) was the fact that the boss has cats!!!
my mum buys all the family christmas and birthday cards from the cats and we do the same for our kids as well! we all mad here!
