My orange kitty Bailey has ripped off the side of one of his pads. I washed it well in Betadine solution and debreeded the wound, it is fairly deep. I have him upstairs in the cat room and I have some antibotic I can give him, but I am wondering should I wrap it in a sock or something to keep him from licking it and take some of the pressure off his rear leg? Thanks.........

OUCH!!! If it is bothering him, he will stay off it on his own. You can try to wrap it, but usually it is best if you just keep an eye on it. He will probably manage to get anything you put on there off anyway. The only way to keep them from getting to it is an e collar, which is hard to make them wear. It may be necessary if he messes with it too much. Sounds like you are doing everything right

I hope it heals quickly...how did he do it? Do you know?

It is on the back leg one pad off to the side, he was limping this morning and when I picked him up he bit me, uncharacteristic of his mellow temperment, so I brought him under a bright light and examined him. There is a portion of the pad missing and a hole dead center in the pad. I am thinking he and that %^%$$%&&**(*!!! feral that I can't catch decided to dance last night, and he lost the dance ticket. I have never had more trouble in trapping a feral in my life as I have with this new one "Mobster" who has been hanging here for almost a month now. I am seriously considering having a wildlife gal I know come over and dart him, but even that is tough, because I hardly ever see him.
Thanks for the advice Sandie, I have a supply of baby socks I use for times like these, but it is hard to keep them in place once a disgruntled cat decides he doesn't like to be dressed up in baby clothes!
