Hi there. I am new to the site. I was just searching for a place that I could talk to others who love cats as much as I do and also a place to ask questions.
I just lost my little girl jessie (17 y/o) to cancer March 19th. It was so difficult and I miss her so much. I had to get another kitty to love to I rescued a stray I had found 6 mts prior but couldn't keep so she was at my mom's barn. I brought her home (1 y/o) and she relaxed right away! I named her punkin. When we first went to the vet, things looked grim because she was very underweight (less than 3 pds) and had a bad respiratory infection. My vet also suspected FIP. After putting her on medicine, a week later she seemed to be doing great! My vet was pleased with some progress. On April 6th, I woke up to find she had passed away. I was so devastated!!! I took her to my vet's (who is also a close friend of mine) and she said that she believes she had FIP. Since there is not an accurate test, we couldn't know. Needless to say, this has been an extremely tough time for me. I am thouroughly depressed and miss both of them so much that my heart literally hurts.
I printed off pictures of Jessie and Punkin and made a collage and hung it on my wall. I want to be able to see them all the time.
Since I love cats so much, I feel that they would both be glad if I rescued another cat. A friend of mine's cat just had kittens and I am going to plan on getting 2 of them in the next 4 weeks when they are ready to go.
To be honest, I am so sad, lonely and depressed that 4 weeks seems like an eternity and I am thinking about looking into fostering someone.
Sorry for the long post. I appreciate everyone listening. My friends and family just do not completely understand what I am going through. But, my kitties are my family, they are like actual children to me.
