Great to be here

I came upon this site looking for resources on pregnant cats. Luckily, less than 6 hours after I posted about my cat being "overdue," kittens started arriving.

I have a 15-year old LH tortoiseshell and white (spayed) tabby (Tigger), adopted 1 year ago, a 1 year old LH tuxedo (neutered) who thinks he's a dog (Malcolm), and an as-yet-undetermined-age beautiful black shorthair, who is the "mom" in question (Elsa).

Elsa delivered 8 kittens early this morning, and they're perfect and healthy. I found her under a trailer where I work, and have been feeding her since January. She came up pregnant and came to live with us on March 15. Good thing I have a tolerant husband!

Anyway, "hi" to everyone, and this is a great site. Hopefully I will figure out the picture thing so everyone can see all these cute kitties!

Welcome to the site! How wonderful of you to take in this poor little Mama Kitty. Wow - 8 Babies!!! That's a BIG litter! While I know most kitty mothers can handle a big litter like that, you might want to look into www.kitten-rescue.com just in case you have to supplement her care of all of those babies.

I took the kitties to the vet and tried to take photos, but all I succeeded in doing was taking some very clear photos of the floor and very blurry photos of kittens in the foreground!

All kittens were given a clean bill of health, and weighed in at an assorted 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 ounces each! They're so cute!!!

I thought 8 was a pretty large litter. Even though Elsa is black, her face looks Siamese, maybe that's where it comes from. Look for photos tonight.
