I feed my cats Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul. I am usually picky about food, making sure to find the best one in my opinion. Well this is not the cheapest food in the world and I am about to have a total of 6 or 7 cats (depending if I can find my kitten a home). Would it be bad if I bought a slightly cheaper food also and mixed the two together? I am not talking about a grocery store "cat chow", but maybe like Purina One or a mediocre brand.

Maybe this is a dumb question but I was just wondering if this is all ok?

I also have a 7ish year old Himalayan. As he gets up there in age, should I feed him more wet food and cut back on dry for him? Or the other way around? I hear all kinds of mixed things. Someone in another thread mentioned they are giving their old cat only wet and not dry because of its kindeys. This is what got me wondering again.

Thanks.

Iams Hairball is the best choise, I use it for my Persians mixed with Royal Canin. If you go with Purina you may end up with diareah. There is also the fact that the cheaper the ingrediants the more "solids" there will be in the litter box. That food does not digest so they eat even more to make up for the loss of nutrients

ya I was worried about adding a cheaper food. maybe I should just stick to Chicken Soup.

any opinions about what to feed an almost senior Himalayan? Just dry, just wet or both? What about as he gets really old later on?

I would say both ... and try a hairball formula... can you give a ball park figure for $$ of the current food in your area...

Have you looked at feed store prices?

If I go to the pet store I am charged almost twice as much for the CHicken soup...if I go to the feed store, I can get 18 lb for $20..which is only a few dollars more than an ok brand at walmart.
