Just wanted to say how glad I am to have found this site and say thanks for all the support and advice I've received over the past couple of weeks. This site is awesome. Sometimes, I feel like my family, friends and coworkers don't entirely "get" my love for cats. It's wonderful to be around others who do.

It wasn't always that way. I grew up in a family in which dogs were the preferred family pet. This is so hard to admit but, about 14 years ago, I hit a cat driving home from class one night and just kept going. At the time I thought "it's just a cat." I still feel terribly guilty thinking about it.

Obviously, I had a conversion experience at some point. My baby girl, Katie, is responsible for that. When I got her as a kitten, I had no clue about cats.
I thought she was cute and fun to play with, but that's about it. At some point though, I realized how much I loved that little cat. Now, I can't imagine life without her, Gracie and Peter.

Anyway, thanks again.

Cats have a way of making you fall in Love with them, I myself had never had a cat as a kid or for the first 20 or so years of my first marriage, I raised basset hounds, I still have a Basset female my dog of choice but I also have had many cats, now I have 4 inside and 8 outside altogether 10 That I rescued, I just feel compled to do what I can for them, I don't think they get the same respect as dogs, I know there are alot of cat Lovers, But it's not often that you find a litter or slew of pups and dogs in a very busy shopping center parking lot, and no one that even cares about them. I am sure you Love your Baby and will continue to do so, they have a way of making you lol

This is a wonderful place, isn't it?
I'm a dog-convert myself, converted by Ophelia and Trent.

About the incident in your past...light a candle for the little one, tell her you're sorry. And most important...forgive yourself.

Another dog-convert here, grew up with them, would have had one when I was on my own, except for a lifestyle that would not have been fair to a dog. Enter Shasta[RB] and the rest is history. She taught me, and the others have continued my education.

But, you're right! Isn't this place just awesome??

Yup I agree, this is an awesome site. I found it after my fourth adoption (I'm up to six now!).

I grew up with both cats and dogs. After moving out of my parents house & getting married, I really wanted a dog vs. a cat. Not sure why. Anyway one winter night, a kitten wandered into our garage... a limping kitten with a broken leg, long-haired, chocolate & caramel colors, purring & loving on everyone... 14 yrs later Snickers is still my first "cat love" and he's the one who converted me from being a 'dog person' to a 'cat person'.

I still like dogs, but cats rule.

Welcome to TCS eilcon
Cat lovers are definitely a "breed apart" (pun intended) from everyone else. Glad you've found a sense of community with us

I too am a convert from a dog person to a cat person as well. Beamer was responsible for that, then came Gilly (RIP), Bud (RIP), Monster, Lady, Taz, Buffy, Queenie, and Tigger (RIP) I stil love all other animals but have to agree, CATS RULE! I too am glad I found this site and know the feeling of people not understanding my great love for cats. But you all do and I love to chat with you all, or alot of times just read.

Im glad that you ended up getting a kitten your self.

Before i hit an animal whether its a fly or an animal i stop my self and think what if someone hit my kitten or my dog?
I dont have a dog anymore, i have never been really fond of dogs.
My parents just came back from sicily and they saw atleast 7 dogs on the road dead.

People just hit them and say "oh its just a dog" but its not they are a wonderful living thing who are so playful and cute. and so are cats, and all of the animals on this planet

i know, cats do that to you

My Marsh is literally the light of my life. he's cuddly, sweet and even if once a day he extends his paw at me, and meows a little and purrs, i'm in heaven
