Ok... apparently I smoke crack before I go to sleep.

Last night I had a dream that people on this board were recommending putting your cat (in a cage) in the dryer, because it actually helped with getting the laundry done. One poster stated "if you're going to run it for 30-35 minutes you should probably put it on medium heat instead of high... but otherwise it's safe".

I woke up and had to hug my poor baby and promise him it was just a crazy dream!

wierd wierd wierd!

I always have vivid and unusual dreams... but I didn't like this one at all!!

Oh my! That is a crazy dream!!! Thank goodness it wasn't true...as cute as some of the pics are of kitties laying in the dryer, there's some tragic real life stories of kitties accidentally being in washers and dryers... (which you obviously know!)

haha the things we dream!

I was dreaming once that Guinness wouldn't stop meeowing - I wanted to turn him off! Then I woke up and he was sitting right next to me on the bed meeowing his little head off!

Ah, cats and clothes dryers. I always triple-check before shutting that door because I'm so afraid one of my cats will hop in there "cuz it's a cool place to play" and I'll turn the dryer on.
Never happened but yeah it's a nightmare!!!

Last night I dreamt of trains. I heard them rumbling by! I woke up slowly, opened my eyes... and right there half on my pillow, half on my arm, was Snickers. Purring loud enough to be a choo-choo train in my dream!

glad to hear it was just a dream... it is a scary thought that it can happen though...

i have to try to keep sara out of the dryer, when she hears it open, no matter where in the house she is or what she is doing, she comes running and then she gets a death grip with one paw in the lint trap and one paw on the inside and it is like playing tug-o-war with her

if it is kind of chilly in the house, after i get the clothes out, i will let her lay in it, with the door wide open AND held back by something... she lays on her back and rolls back and forth till it cools off or till i come and pry her out of there

Wow! Weird dream! I keep having dreams about CJ having her kittens! I once had a dream that both CJ and Billy got out, and I woke up, and my eyes were all watery!

A friend of mine had a beautiful black kitty that didn't meow. Midnight climbed into the dryer on wash day-
My friend didn't check the load, just started the dryer. I always check the loads before I wash or dry. Cats are so curious they go everywhere-

Now that I think back about this dream, it was just a tad-nightmare-ish... not one of those horrible nightmares when you wake up with your heart pounding, etc. But I was filled with this horrible anxiety.

(in the dream) I did put him in the cage and put it in the dryer... I let the dryer run for about 5 seconds but could hear him meowing, so I took him out and promised I'd never do it again.

It's interesting... my dreams are often linked to my emotions, only the dream itself rarely makes sense (or is something that would obviously never happen). I'm pretty anxious these days over an exam I have tomorrow and Friday. Plus yesterday I had to take Toby to the vet for his shots - 3 needles!!!

I must have been sad about causing my baby pain... and just had this wierd dream.

Thankfully I'm in an apartment, so Toby has no access to dryers

I do that too Stefanie.......I triple check the washer and dryer before I close the lids or doors.....You just never know.........Tiggy has been known to jump in there when I'm not looking.......

I always check the washer, dryer, and dishwasher before using them, and take a good look in the fridge and freezer before closing the doors. Our last cat always slept in the washer on a thick towel, so checking became a habit.

What? You're not supposed to put your cat in the dryer? Are you sure? I do it all the time. But I use the delicate cycle for no more then a few minutes!

PS: I always check before shuting that door too! Not to worry!

Just offering a little bit of Dream Analysis for you!

Being that you are dreaming of your cat (which is important to you), you are conscience of how much they mean to you. Being that you heard that it was good to put him in the dryer and that you actually tried it (though, by putting him in his cage before doing so eludes that you KNEW it would hurt/harm and you were 'protecting' him by securing him in his cage). Your curiosity was piqued by wanting to see if what people were saying was true (hence actually putting your cat into the dryer) and you were following advice [here is where I think your trip to the vet comes into play; you took him to the vet (following the given advice for his shots) and felt as if you couldn't protect him from the pain (which is why, in your dream, you had put him in his cage before putting him in the dryer)].

After you had turned it on, you heard him cry and you knew it was scaring/harming/hurting him, so you turned it off and consoled him. This is your protective nature coming through in the dream because you couldn't well take him from the veternarian after the first shot!

By promising him that you'd never do it again, you feel as if you have learned your lesson about following given advice.

Now what you said about 'I must have been sad about causing my baby pain...' in your dream, you tried to do things a little differently by taking away the pain (taking him out of the dryer).

The significance of the dryer you ask? Here it is: you dry something after you wash it... why do you wash something? To clean it, or get rid of the dirt. Dirt is another way of saying something that isn't comfortable or unwanted negative feelings. You put your cat into the dryer because you wanted to make up for the 'guilt' (that dirty feeling, still lingering in the sodden clothes) for taking him to the vet.

You're dreams do make sense -- you just need to make sense of them.

Mashka loves the washer and dryer...I keep her out of the laundry room as much as possible. I don't trust that little scamp.

Speaking of weird dreams...I once dreamed I accidentally pulled the tail off of my cat at the time. I woke up horrified... I was bawling. I had to scoop him up and love him, saying how sorry I was.

Movin' on up!
I have to check both the washer and dryer, before shutting them and turning them on. Rowdy will jump into whichever one is open.
