Our Humane Society is going to host a "Kitten Shower" in the near future. They are planning on sending out flyers with a wish list of supplies to get them thru kitten season. We are already getting in orphaned litters, and by mid June we will be overrun.

The invitation will ask for kitten items to be donated (such as KMR, snuggle kitties, clay litter, etc), and we will set up a day when we ask people to deliver them. We'll decorate the center like a baby shower, serve cake and punch, etc.

This all seems a little simple. Does anyone have any easy to implement ideas on how to make this successful? We'd like to do some games that are appropriate for the occassion that are kitten related.

What a wonderful idea! The only suggestion I can think of is to invite a reporter to the shelter before to do a piece on everything you do. I would also put an ad in the local paper with a picture of a kitten...a real LITTLE kitten.

That is the sweetest idea! Here's a thought, since I'd imagine your H-Society would like to adopt out as well as get supplies, maybe offer anyone who drops something off a coupon for $5 off an adoption for them or a friend if they return within the next 3-4 months (kitten season of course!). I adopted my baby last summer from our H-Society and he was $70. Not overly expensive (especially since he was my birthday gift from my bf), but a few bucks saved is always appreciated!

This sounds great, Amy! You could have a pretty cake decorated in pink and blue with a kitten on it.
How about pink and blue balloons to decorate as you would at a baby shower!
You said you want games. What age group do you have in mind?
