Ok, as some of you folks know, my husband and I just bought a new house. Every single wall in the house needs painted (previous owners had weird taste). I painted 2 closets today and I'm already sick of painting!!!! What am I gonna do? I have 5 closets and 1 pantry left. Not to mention 4 bedrooms, living room, family room, kitchen, garage, dining room and 3 bathrooms.
My closest friend lives 2 hours away and my closest relative lives 4 hours away so I have little help. I wish you guys lived close by so I could get some help (I would at least cook you dinner
)

Bristol, TN. I'm really close to the Bristol Motor Speedway, I could actually HEAR the race this weekend.

Ugh! I truly do feel for you on this. I used to dread painting. But ... my mother, the eternal optimist, made a fine comment that helped me to change my mind about this drudge chore.

She said *clearing throat for effect* "The GOOD thing about having no one to help you paint is that you can do it the way YOU want to do it"

After I realized this was indeed the truth, I got real creative. I got out all my old art supplies and painted ivy vines all over my downstairs bathroom. I created a very large weeping willow tree in the corner of my bedroom wall. I painted a Rose Tree on my closet wall and because it turned out so well, couldn't bear to put anything in there to hide it - so I took off the doors, out came the shelves and racks PRESTO it now houses my desk (where I pay bills) and opens up the wall where the desk used to be. *grin* I added some other elements to the Rose Tree and painted a window frame around the scene so now it looks like you are gazing out of a beautiful, sunny window into the garden below.

Get creative. Have fun.

Hope this helps - and if I were anywhere at all nearby you, I would help because I LOVE to paint on walls. *grin*

I painted farm animals all over the front cupboards of one of my houses. In the kitchen, it turned out really cute and always made people smile.,

I repainted EVERY square inch of this house. Once I got into the mindset that I am taking pride in what I am accomplishing, the chore did not seem so bad.

Now, speaking from experience, use Behr Paint from the Home Depot if at all possible. I have tried many brands and Behr is the best. Also, use primer if you are going from dark to light followed by TWO coats of paint. It is worth taking the time to apply two coats.

Private message me if you need any further assistance from "Harry, the happy homeowner".

I LOVE to paint!!! I painted every inch of both of our homes!! It really doesn't take very long if you have the right supplies. I would do all of my trim (corners & around moulding) work first. By the time the 1st coat of trim work dried, I could start on the 2nd coat. Then I would use a roller to roll the walls and again, I was ready for the 2nd coat right away!

The thing that takes me the most time is the "real trim work" - the mouldings and baseboards.

I wish you luck and I'm sending good painting vibes your way!!~~

I was thinking, if you aren't keeping the carpet or are able to cover it very well, you could rent a paint gun and spray it all. That way all you would have to do is the mouldings.

OM Gads I hate to paint, I would scrimp and save and have it done lol, my son-in-law is a painter by trade, so I let him do it and I pay him what he's use to making..I hate it that much really

Can you paint every room when you have cats? I wasn't sure if it would make them sick or not. The apartments where we will be moving allow painting and I thought it might be neat to paint.

Good luck to you in getting your painting done. Maybe you'll be like me with cleaning and get a rush at 2 a.m. and just start doing it. Hopefully you can find some help!

I love to paint! I don't know, maybe it's the instant gratification. I love big changes, and painting suits that. I'm currently repainting my dining room, I'm going from blue-violet (which I loved, but I had the ceiling repaired, and the old paint job was ruined) to a rich red!

Hey thanks Gayef! Those are some great ideas! I especially like the desk idea. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with some built in shelves in our family room!

That's a great idea, too! I love the idea of having a country kitchen. My only problem is I'm not very artistic and I'm afraid my animals would look like monsters
