OK, well I started a thread with what things ANNOY you, so, let us all think now of what things we can do for another as a good deed! That's right, you read it right...

Things We Can Do For Others As A Good Deed!

I'll begin:

I can let the person beside me at a traffic light go in front of me once the light turns green without getting mad and wondering why he "needs" to be first.

I can put a quarter in a stranger's parking meter if it is about to expire? Who knows? Maybe they got caught up chatting on TCS!

I can give ...... my time, my heart and my ears to help others.
I would give money.....if I had it!

I can drop someone a note, for no reason other than " I was thinking about you today".

I can let someone in the grocery store who only has a couple of items in front of me, even if I'm in a hurry.

Ain't that the truth! I can always put on a smile and a cheerful manner in public, no matter how down I am!

Offer to take a grocery cart back to the store when you see someone has just finished unpacking it - of any age - it really surprises and pleases folks.

If you can, support your local food bank, or organizations such as Second Harvest.

I'm not sure this is such a happy deed (I think it is!) but we have lots of people still unemployed up here in our State. We have a large unemployment problem, so I do resumes for free for those that cannot pay but have skills and really need one to get a good job, not just "complete the application"....more than a McJob! I try to be fast so they have it same day and I never charge them a dime. It gives them so much esteem to see how great they can look on paper and confidence to move forward.

There's no place like home
I'm full of good deeds this week:

Saturday donated to the local public radio station.
Today donated cat beds and toys to the local public TV station to sell in their auction.
Tonight I went to the Humane Society meeting to volunteer time to upcoming events.
Tomorrow I volunteer at a local food pantry.

But I think when I catch my breath, I'm going to compliment everyone that works for me this week.

I guess you could say that my current good deed is that I've adopted several soldiers that are deployed in Iraq and have no support from home. The emails I've gotten from the soldiers saying how grateful they are to know someone cares make it well worth it. To be honest I think I'm getting as much, if not more, from doing this as the soldiers are.

I take meals to a dear elderly friend she's 84, I take her lunch and spent a few hours with her
I always let someone go before me in the store line if they have just a few things

The best I can do today is not kill anyone.

I think that's pretty nice. Especially since there are so many people on my "you need to leave me alone RIGHT NOW" list...

LOL!

Seriously.

I make sure I do at least 5 things a day in the "pay it forward" catagory...letting someone else go first, holding the door, hugs, stuff like that. Daily, I do at least 5...because that reminds me to take time for others, and not simply focus on myself.

Best-
Michele

Under the cats, mostly.
Hrmn.... I dont' know what i could write... I've been brought up in a family where it was taught that whatever you can do to help someone, do it and never question it. I've given money even though at the time it left me short, and I still do, I've put clothes and shoes on gypsies kids in the rain, I've sold the coat off my back in the snow to feed my son... those are just little things that I've always been taught to do. Hold the door open for someone coming in, smile, say something nice, be polite... I don't care what it is I do... I just do it because it's the way I am. So... whatever's needed really
So when I'm back in full health, I'm going to do what I've not done before... I'm going to give blood

I tell you what is always nice - I've not done in a long time now - give a bunch of flowers to a complete stranger! They might look at you funny for a second or two, but so what?!

In frankfurt it gets so busy that i always end up holding the door open for 10 people! I always hold the door open to elderly people and to mothers with prams. And i was disgusted when my friend said why do you do that? they dont do it for you?
It just made me sad because this woman with the pram everybody was going through her and she couldnt get through!!

At the supermarket i let people go through if they have less items than i do.

At the drive through to get a coffee on your way into work, you can pay for the coffee of the person driving behind you so they get up to the window and find it already paid for:-). This one is fun.:-)

At the kitty's beck and call
I have always tried to have a kind and cheery word for the people I meet each day - or to provide a sympathetic and/or helpful ear if they have troubles. I hold doors for others and allow people to go through before me when appropriate. I have always tried to treat others in the same way and with the same respect as I would like to be treated.

Isn't it a shame that we have only 18 responses to this thread and close to 75 on the "What annoys You" thread?

Oh I SO agree.
if you give people 5 superficial negative things about a person and 1 huge positive, they will always harp on the negative and rarely remember the positive.
