Do human infants knead?

How generous and caring of the woman! Didn't she consider pumping? They're going to be a couple really confused tigers!

Yikes! That is too sick imo and not healthy for the tigers either. Tigers need, well, tiger milk, or a close replacement. I don't think human milk is good for them - just as cow milk isn't.

Does remind me though of my mother-in-law's response when we mentioned once that my cat loves me so much she nurses from me. Hubby and I meant she likes to knead and suck on my clothes - but MIL had this mental image of me actually breastfeeding the cat LOL - she was horrified!

Wow... won't the tigers need a large quantity of milk???? Can the woman MAKE that much???!!

Anne, Meish does that 'nursing' thing too!!! Its so odd hearing someone else's cat does that too!!

Beth, I think it said that they were being bottle-fed along with the nursing?

Oh, and Tigs does it too....of course he was only about three weeks old when his mom died.

i swear, this woman must have a fetish! there's no way i'd let a wild aniimal approach any part of my body

besides, are human milk & tiger milk interchangeable? wouldn't the protein/fat ratios be different - cats are carnivores, humans are omnivores!

Recall the story several months back about a woman who breast fed her dog? Now for a more kitty related breastfeeding story
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7600056/

"Three times a day, the Myanmar housewife goes to the Yangon Zoo where she breastfeeds the hungry black-striped, orange-brown cubs rejected by their natural mother.

“The cubs are just like my babies,†Hla Htay told Fuji TV as as one of the baby big cats suckled her breast."

thats...a little odd...

Actually, we already have a thread on this, entitled "Ouch!", so I'm going to merge them.
HOLY COW! Um...is it not the same if she just uses a breast pump? I don't understand why she actually has to let them, well, you know...feed straight from her. That's kinda gross. It's a sweet gesture, but really, are there no momma tigers out there that can spare some TIGER milk?
to be truthfull they have trouble finding mama tigers but yeah kind thought but weird. i just dont know what to think about this i would think dietly would be wrong but i think animal activists and all sorts of people would be squawking if it wouldnt be right dietly

That's up.

It's not unprecedented. I remember watching a TV documentary which showed an Australian woman breastfeeding a koala, and another report where an African woman (I forget which country) was breastfeeding two gorilla babies. I imagine a gorilla's nutritional needs would be close to a human's, though.
