Have you ever seen anything like this? I have heard of blessing the animals, but an actual service?

So what do you say, would you take your cats to church??

Ummm, actually I have......Back when I was still breeding I had to have a C-section done on the Monday that our revival started, and my vet always let my kits come home, 'cause he knew that I'd watch them closer than his techs would, especially after hours. I loaded up cage, mom, and all five kittens, and put them in the ladies bathroom, covered with a couple of sheets!

I just dont think anyone--even other animal lovers--would enjoy listening to my baby whine for an hour :-) I dont think she would feel particularly blessed by the event!! But I think my dog would have a ball

While I've not attended one of those services yet, (they are an annul event around here, done non-denominationally), I've heard that it's an uplifting, exciting experience. Apparently, even the animals all get along, and friendships are created among the owners who meet there! Sounds like a great idea! The one around here is held during the time that my husband and I do our annual visit to his folks in Michigan and my sis&brother in Tennessee.
So, if any of you go to an animal service, please tell me all about it!! Susan

In most churches in the Philippines there's always a stray cat or dog and couple of birds. I would love to bring my gang, but they'll go after the "church" animals and most likely cause a critter riot.

You'd be surprised. We generally have such a service at my church as close as possible to October 4 (St Francis of Assisi). Many other churches in our area do this as well, around then or at other times. We haven't actually taken any of our critters because we're both in the choir and it gets a little complicated, dealing with critters as well as our serivce duties
But many people come, we get all kinds of animals, from caged little things, to cats and dogs, to police horses, to llamas -- you name it! And it's amazing how little noise there is from them -- they have an amazing sense of occasion!
It's really neat.
